(Yeah, Trish is another character who was already good and didn’t need buffs, much less that many buffs.)
Considering the game’s barely been out eight months at this point, of course there are going to be quite a few characters who underrated at the moment. Whether that means they’re massively underrated (Zero [for some reason], Viper, M.O.D.OK., etc.) or not as underrated but still quite capable of messing you up if you underestimate them (Felicia, Hulk, Viewtful Joe, etc.) is what’s really up for debate.
I really don’t want to get into a lengthy back and forth about what the worst–this is different from calling it (most) useless–in the game is, but the fact that you have to point out that it’s ability to “happy birthday” two characters at the same time is its saving grace says something. That’s horribly situational, especially with Chris’s mobility (or lack thereof). Besides, it’s not like Chris can’t utterly destroy assist’s health in seconds as it is even if the main character is blocking between incendiary grenades, landmines, magnum and the flamethrower (especially if they won’t push block you for whatever reason) anyway, so that’s even less going in its favor; that Chris should be a battery since his supers are pretty sub-par doesn’t exactly help either.
If they made it faster (which I doubt they did) to compensate for it not being able to combo after Hard Combination Punch, then that would got a long way towards improving it since it right now it’s way too easy to screw up the initial staring position of the target reticle outside of the corner since you have to mash on the fire button to get the damn thing to connect in the first place; I kinda want to Bionic Arm whoever decided that pushing a firing button different from the one your holding makes it default to appearing over Chris. It doesn’t really matter much that he’s invulnerable when he fires it if still gets murdered (and wastes three bars) whenever he misses and right now it’s too damn slow to punish most things unless you are freakishly psychic & even then it’s too slow against some hypers. It also hurts that it’s a projectile Level 3, so like Zero, it’s really damn easy to bait out or X-Factor against even if you actually screwed up if you’re far away; however, unlike Zero, Chris’s Level 3 is always far away since it comes from directly above wherever you’re firing, so it can’t instantly form on people like Zero’s Level 3 can. So, yeah, I’m rather hard-pressed to think of/find another Level 3 that’s worst than his, which is Capcom making it even more situational is just another head-scratcher. Oh well. Chris got buffed massively overall and it’s not even the thing I’m most vexed about; it’s just this is the first that I’ve heard of it.
