If They Ask Where You Went...Say Skyrim

I think a big draw to TES games is that it allows you to create your own stories around your character. Unlike in other RPGs, such as in the J variety, every person is going to experience the same narrative due to their linear design but every play through in TES is unique. Well, it’ll be about as unique as you can get from a non-randomized dungeons, static world game. You could skip the main quest entirely and just mess around for 60 hours exploring.

Long time fan of Morrowind, but after playing demon/dark souls i’m just not that hype for Skyrim. I’ll prolly still buy it, but based on oblivion, it won’t be tighter than Dark Souls

Dark Souls is the perfect appetizer to Skyrim. Dark Souls was empty souls, had no story…

One thing I’m really hoping for, that I just again realized is ridiculously retarded from playing some Oblivion, is a better adjusted AI for NPCs in regards to when they should try and murder you.

I mean … I try and pickpocket one person in a city, and now I not only have the guards trying to kill me along with the victim, but also every other person in the area. Shopkeepers, Civilians, Beggars. These must be really tightly knit communities, if every single person feels the need to try and fucking kill you, for any indiscretion, even if not affecting them in any capacity.

Like, last night, I was doing the one Thieves’ Guild mission trying to steal back a ring from the Countess. I got caught by making too much noise, and the Count’s bodyguard comes in and attacks me. Okay, reasonable. Now I realize I’m getting hit from behind too though, and both the Count and Countess are standing here in fisticuffs mode, trying to fucking punch me through my armor with their bare goddamn hands after hopping out of bed in their frilly garbs. That is ridiculous. I’m pretty sure the nobility’s first response wouldn’t be bare knuckle boxing, over running the fuck away or trying to summon more guards.

That shit really bothered me every time it happened, I’m hoping they fix it in Skyrim. - n -

Well, if you liked Morrowind, then you’ll probably like this game, because reviewers have been saying it’s much closer in design to Morrowind than Oblivion. It’s looking like they took the best elements of both games and combined them into a whole brand of awesomeness, lol.

9 more days, which means 8 more days thanks to my internet pre-order, which means less than 192 hours for me at this exact moment in time. But Im not really bothered for this game, I could take it or leave it!

Ive been waiting on the sequel to Oblivion for so long. Ive been annoyed watching Fallouts come and go, reading that Bethesda will most likely start production on the next Elder Scrolls game in so and so many years, after so and so many projects. Now its just 9 more days. Looking forward to the whole thing, creating my character, sub missions, guilds, main quest, exploring, the equipment, levelling up, looting peoples houses in sneak mode…

I have an account on Blackcatsgames, Skyrim showed up on the 360 yesterday. Lucky ****ers

hah, I was in tears. Yeah, I doubt they’ll fix that, sorta like how minor fender benders in GTA lead to 12 cops trying to run you over with their car. I do wish some people had different dispositions (like maybe a cowardly King who just takes the fuck off whenever shit goes down). I’m just hoping I don’t have to hear two people talking about seeing a mudcrab.

Am I gonna be the only one pretending I’m playing “A Game of Thrones: The Official Action Role Playing Videogame!” ?

I’m sure I used up a year of my life playing Fallout 3 so Bethesda’s got me by the balls.

New engine looks gorgeous. I’m not really into sword and sorcery but this one looks like a must-play.

can’t wait. this is my first major game to buy for the PC.

my wife ganked a server PC from her work that has a pretty sweet setup (xeon processor or something, pretty nice graphic card) so i’ve decided to finally give the PC version of the elder scrolls a try. The modding, superior graphics, etc. I’m pretty eager to try it out. i hope it’s not disappointing, since i’ve been a console guy most of my life.

I’m ready to hear some
"I saw some dragons by the water recently.
Disgusting creatures! I hope to never see another!
Good day to you.
Stop talking!"

Probably not, seeing as Bethesda was offered to make exactly that but they chose to make Skyrim instead. As a result we got A Game of Thrones : Genesis or whatever.

Uhh, Skyrim began full development in 2008. Game of Thrones (TV) came out recently, which garnered more fan base. Why would they drop a game that’s been in full development for 2 years with a solid history to past Elder Scrolls game and rename it Game of Thrones?

In all honesty, you probably couldnt have chosen a better game. There are a few recent games that look incredible on the PC, Rage and Battlefield come to mind. But the modding community for these Elder Scrolls games provide so many extras. If your PC can handle the game on higher settings you will be in for a real treat. I gave PC gaming a miss for the past 4 or so years but just built a new PC last month. Visuals on PC games are well and beyond above what the consoles are offering, I guess its to be expected but the consoles held their own for a length of time. But spending so long away from PC gaming its been a real suprise getting back in to it. This game tho, I think will be so much better on the PC when you also account for the mods that will be available.

I played Oblivion on both consoles and finally the PC. When I started my PC run the game looked so much better. I downloaded some mods, and at the time, it made it look incredible. Mods for everything presentation wise, foliage, the sky, texture mods, weapon and armour mods. You could really bump up the graphical presentation to a yet higher level with the mods.

I dont know if you have an HDTV, but its worth hooking the PC up if you setup allows it

Modded Oblivion murdered console versions and future games. I remember playing on my friends PC and was wondering if I was playing a new game! Level specific areas (not level-scaled), more bosses and they were planted at specific areas, new monsters and spells, better textures/graphics/landscape, etc. You’re in for a real treat Weeks, lucky!

And different mounts!

This sounds so bad, but…

I am currently 81 hours into fallout 3 in preperation for skykrim. I meant to play the game a year or so ago, because as a 1 and 2 fan I would not play it until I had my hd screen, but work and all…

So, needless to say, its the best game I have ever played i think, and I can’t wait for skykrim considering it is supposed to blow previous games away. Now, I am a huge fan of “lying down on my couch with lots of food, in preference of using a game controller” gaming so I can take tv breaks at the same time, but…this is the sequel to oblivion for gods sake. Is it really worth it to shell out a grand for a game I could play on my nice 42 inch hd?

It will look even better in a larger resolution on a 24’ monitor.

I can’t wait for this game, and that main theme is so damn tits.

I need a medieval RPG to play in the meantime but I hate sifting through Steam.

I recently got Oblivion on steam, where do you get the mods for it at?

Im not sure of the best place if there is one that is preferred over all others. But years back Im sure I got mine from
