If there's universal distaste for the HD Remix tweaks, why not play Classic Mode?

That’s what I’m complaining about. The new graphics are nasty… fuckin’ macromedia flash up in here.

You can also set it to original character sprites.

Here’s a quick breakdown with verrry guessy estimate numbers:

50% of players on SFHD haven’t actually played vanilla ST, and most of them wouldn’t know the difference anyway beyond maybe being able to quote a couple of things from Sirlin’s development articles.

40% love Remixed mode more than regular ST.

7% either have no preference or dislike it slightly but would rather just be where the vast majority of other SF2 players are right now.

3% don’t like Remixed mode, and they’re sure as hell going to be playing at a proper arcade or on GGPO/2DF before they dink around with some port that has different graphics.

(Please nobody bother arguing about those numbers. I don’t care how far off they are from perfect. They’re there to illustrate a point.)

Note that this doesn’t even really take into account the people who (actively) play both.

Methinks vocal complaints about netcode issues and continued imbalance of Honda/Akuma are being confused with general dislike for HDR altogether.

HDR has issues we all hate, but overall it’s a much more enjoyable (and accessible) incarnation of SFII than has ever been available. Sirlin fixed many things that just didn’t make any sense to keep (like the unnecessarily difficult 360/720-type motions). So the guy didn’t fix every conceivable problem (and even invented a few in regards to the online component)…he still delivered a highly addicting experience that has kept me coming back every single day (sometimes for many hours) since I downloaded shortly after launch.

I could care less about Classic Mode. Make mine HDR!

QFT. I’ve had a lot of problems with the changes he’s made to Fei, but overall I think he did a better job than almost anyone would have. The only thing is I keep wanting to main someone other than Fei because he’s so neutered, but he’s still my best character so I’m sort of stuck.

lol what. its only “hard” because you actually have to do a full 360. doing a 270 like every other SF game doesnt work

also couldnt* care less. sounds retarded the other way

270 motion works in sf2

Uhmmm…DUH. It’s difficult, and for what purpose? Why not make projectiles require a 360 motion, too? Or Hurricane Kicks? Which is exactly why Sirlin changed those 360 motions to something actually usable by those that aren’t SF masters.

Except that I meant exactly what I said. I care about ST Classic in as much as it is still a great game and was…well, the original. So in that respect I COULD care less, but that I just don’t care that much in contrast to HDR.

So…howsabout you get your shit straight before you start correcting folks, hm?

I would say even the most hardcore of hardcore players would find HD Remix light years better than classic ST. How can you not love HD Remix? This would be even more-so true for vets VS those new to the game. HD Remix is like going from black & white to color, HD color.
