If modern SF is too defensive, why not just kill the block button?

Anyone mentioned Guilty Gears block system? It gives you great options. You can faultless defense using overdrive meter, or if you block way too much the block meter starts flashing which means each time you’re hit counts as a counter hit giving the opponent much better combo opportunities (and more damage).

People talk about boring defensive games like Guilty Gear never existed…

And I feel that SF is popular because of its good balance between defense and offense. Its not OVERLY defensive at all.

Nobody actually plays GG beyond maybe buying it and fucking around for a bit before they run into the execution barrier. Also it’s so annie mae that people are afraid they’ll turn into weeaboo lolicons if they play it.

I thought no-one played GG because they all moved to BB or something.

But you’re from Ohio.

I believe we can make this work

iirc the op tried to make legitimate posts at some point i think he threw in the towel and is trying his hand at “trolling” now dunno

i have many friends that play GG casually and the execution barrier is not a problem for them, they still have fun on the game, even when they cant frc for their lives

also GG is not that animu like people want to think

lol, I was making a joke more on srk’s general opinion of it rather than anything else.

@Hecatom: Agreed that it’s not actually very animu, but a lot of people don’t see it for whatever reason. Cool that you could get friends to play it for fun without fretting over execution.

IMO, most FRCs are easier than links in SFIV.

Huh? Odd. I find GG pretty easy to execute in to the point I almost never mess up at all and yet I fluff my moves SF4/SSF4 all the time, even the basic stuff like quarter circles :o

UMK3 had a block and run button, it didnt feel right though having to hold a button to block. Running Jabs were fun though

SF4 is not defensive. The SSF4 semi’s were a pretty good testament to that.

Who hits the wall first loses.
