I’m still pissed how Capcom completely gutted the FM earning post-Arcade Edition. People who made the choice to farm everything from story, survival, levelups etc must’ve been real happy knowing they future-proofed themselves for at least 2-3 seasons worth of characters

I think that’s more on Square’s part than Sakurai. Even after bringing Cloud back, they are still limited to two songs and one stage. The songs aren’t even new remixes.
If Sakurai had more clearance on what to put in, I’m sure he would’ve loaded Final Fantasy with as much content as the SNK games.
