ST Ryu plays very different than SF4 Ryu, and SF4 is sort of like anti-ST. They are completely different games and completely different characters. Not only that, the moves other characters have makes them play differently.
There’s several instances where this shows. You can not escape cross-ups, meaties and command throws with Tatsus in SF4. SRKs work differently: Jab is the least vulnerability in ST while Fierce and Strong have more in SF4 (depends on the game version and situation). The timing and hitboxes on normals is different (different ranges and timing), and ways around projectiles are plenty. Being a good ST player does not have much relation to being a good SF4 player. You are probably gonna find more 3S and Alpha players beasting in SF4 than SF2 ones.
Now on the real topic: Infiltration has dedicated much more time to Akuma than Daigo did. It would take him a lot of time to catch up. This whole “what if top X player picked Y instead” talk is almost entirely in conjecture zone due to training, mindsets, player preference, etc. We will probably never know, and I do not think we should care.
Now, you see, I do agree that some characters fit certain players better, but this is only valid for the same game. A character is, really, hitboxes moving according to character data and game engine. Different games have different character data and different engines: for all that matters, they really do not share characters (exceptions aside, e.g., HSF2). A2 Gen is not A3 Gen, which isn’t SF4 Gen; 3S Makoto is not SF4 Makoto, and so on.
The only thing characters tend to have across games is similar movesets… A charge character doesn’t magically become a motion character… But other than that… Yeah :-/
Yeah, I mean generally. His playstyle generally does not falter due to pressure or adrenaline. I see this far more on other players than I’ve seen it in his game. We know he’s human
To be fair, at EVO Infiltration whiffed a sweep, Daigo tried to punish with a sweep of his own and got a Raging Demon for his troubles. Shit like that makes you second guess punishing Infiltration on his wiffed sweeps
We need an option to flag a post as scrub.
Trolling will imply that he done it deliberately on an attempt to piss the people here on srk, but i am pretty sure that this crap is just another dumbass that knows shit about fighting games.
I suggest you to change your name to scrubbydumbass, it fits you better.
I actually think that Infiltration is better at adapting than Daigo, as was shown on SF25th tournament where he lost in both winners finals iirc on sfxt and ssf4ae2012 just to come back stronger and steamroll, both Tokido and Daigo.
Robert from KOF comes to mind, he has been both a motion char and a charge char.
Whenever I see people say this nine times out of ten it’s because they think that Infiltration is just riding on the coattails of a “top tier” character and, thus, lacks true skill. Nine times out of ten this also means that people who say that kind of stuff don’t understand fighting games and don’t recognize that Infiltration has actual fighting game skill.
It’s like people who say that ChrisG wouldn’t be dominant anymore if MorriDoom got nerfed. ChrisG has real skill as a fighting game player and has displayed it in multiple games, but then there are the people who think that using top tier = totally fraudulent, and those people just do not understand fighting games.
And lol at Daigo being “permanent”. When was the last time he won something big? Still an easy pick for the top 8 of any tournament but “eternal” is pushing it. I also feel like people who say this are only familiar with his SF4 achievements and only have a cursory knowledge of what he’s done in the past. I doubt a few years of being a top SF4 player counts as being eternal.
It doesn’t play much like 3s either. really I think SF4 is separate from the whole rest of the series. in how it plays, what decision making it rewards, and what kind of players are drawn to it.
No but he has had a long and steady stream of success from ST to SA3 to 3rd strike to SFIV. Hell he even won stuff in Vampire Hunter and Guilty Gear I believe.
Daigo was never really a tier-whore. He just played the strongest character that appealed to his style. He counter-picks for sure, but he doesn’t generally main top tier characters just for the sake of them being top tier. The only exception I know of is Vanilla AE, where he said he picked Yun to prove a point to his haters.
VS: Bishamon
GGXX: Sol
CvS2: Guile, Shotos, Lots of chars
3S: Ken
ST: Guile -> Ryu, others for counter-pick
A3: Gouki -> Ryu, occasionally Guy
