Bringing back Street Fighter Alpha would be perfect for this. Since Alpha series is already known for having just about every SF character in it, let Alpha 4 be that mash-up fan service casual game. Then let the regular Street Fighter series be more traditional (Lay off the comeback mechanics, no airblock, a lot of new characters, less old characters etc) .
I thought of the exact same thing.
Ono apparently expressed interest in doing an Alpha 4, so I’m guessing that’s more for the casual gamer. SF V will probably continue after III and a new pseudo-alpha series will fix the unanswered questions between IV and III.
full Ultra parry into cr. forward xx FADC srk xx Ultra of choice. SF 5, here we come!
…on second thought, let Capcom just milk the series a few more years. say, between 8 to 10 sounds about right.

A3 was full of casual crap, and still it had to be played with those V-ism combos and crouch-cancels, which demanded a lot of training to get right.
You should never try to understand Ono. He craps through his mouth, that’s all there is to it. He is the one guy who stated “odd-numbered SF is technical and even-numbered are fun”.
Last time i checked, playing v-ism is a choice, not something you are forced to do. You guys need to stop thinking with the mentality everyone who plays fighting games wants to play in tournaments. Alot of people dont really care and just want to enjoy games either with themselves or close friends.
Im all for another alpha, but NOT in the SF4 style. Ono doing an alpha game will kill the series just like Darkstalkers. Actually now that I think about it, Darkstalkers wasnt that great after the first one in my opinion. Capcom oversaturated the market with too many cps2 fighters back then.
People take this game WAYYYYYYY too seriously.
Its kinda sad sometimes…
I doubt most of them even enjoy the game anymore, they probably just enjoy winning… at a game…
if you have made an account here, then you have taken it too seriously.
How?
I don’t mind losing… or playing games for fun…
@Javed Patel
aside from the usual crap about “socializing” via the other sub-forums, SRK is one of the premier repositories for ALL things SF and fighting games. creating an account means you either choose to lurk the forums to gather info or attempt to troll multiple threads. judging from your posts and response, you are obviously not here for information to become better competitively. sounds about right doesn’t it? and now you can complain about getting called out for what you posted…
on topic though : imho, trying to implement too many “ideas” into the next installment will only serve to clutter the system. not necessarily “dumbing down” the game but rather, try and strip it back to the core gameplay, i.e. winning without the need for EX, Super or Ultra moves. Super SF2 comes to mind but that was a bit of a disappointment.

So no one can be here on SRK for anything but those 3 reasons?
Dang, didn’t realise you could read minds
My bad!
1 second, I got a quote for you!
modern-day absolute truth™ :
- Assumption is the Mother of all Fuck-Ups -
there’s never going to be powerful normals in a street fighter game again
While i think we should have a few other fighter IP come out first (DarkStalker and Rival Schools come to mind), perhaps with a few SF cameos added to their roster, i can only think of a few ideas that are somewhat different that could fit the 5th game.
- Super bar holds 5 ex stocks.
- New mechanic has feature that uses 2 stocks.
- Have most Supers use 3 and 4 stocks, while a select few use all 5.
- Make projectiles more relevant.
- Have a SFA4 be the composite feature, casual centered, block buster next gen gateway game into SF5.
Makoto. Plz just bring her back.
My thoughts on SFV:
-Selectable supers
-Visible stun meter
-NO ULTRAS
-Every fighter can super jump
-Bring in Q and Poison
-Yun and Yang die in a plane crash
Basically bring back some 3rd strike concepts while cutting out the overpowered comeback features of IV.
Meh on selectable supers. That shits pretty played out, especially since everyone will just find the best one per character and keep using that.
What happened to multiple supers or is that too much work like adding a system mechanic to a game?

I actually hope that they throw away the concept of selectable supers, yes there is an strategy value there, but imo it sacrifice more than what it gives, specially because is like they give you an incomplete character IMO
If they have to throw away the concerpt of selectable supers they’ll almost certainly have to throw away the concept of ultras too. Because one of the balancing factor of ultras is that you only have 1 of them. Fighting a Rufus with an anti-air ultra AND an ultra he can combo into easily would be aggravating.
Like someone mentioned earlier, a Zangief with U1 and U2 would also be very scary…
I thought that it was a given that no one wants ultras back
