I have a lot of similar ideas as you and I agree that SFV should definitely take place over a decade after SF3.
Everything you spoke about Mel (Ken’s son), A Chun Li orphan, Sean, and Sakura are spot on.
And Ryu should come back older but his playstyle should change a bit. A Ryu/Gouken/Oro hybrid would be interesting.
If SFV comes out and Capcom still can’t get over Shadowloo(or at least introduce a new regime), then I’d be kinda disappointed. They need to briefly explain how M.Bison/Shadowloo ended, who stopped Gill, and move forward.
For real though. Talk to Arika, get EX characters in. Make a non-canon story consisting only of visual gags and fart jokes, like Tekken. Mad cash making
If my opponent is falling down in a juggle state, let me be able to hit them still. I hated doing an AA SRK in SF4, and then trying to do another normal and they just go right through it.
Mel and Sean would be the main characters…the original cast is old and retired except for Ryu who has gray hair and full beard…Vega(claw) took over shadoloo and bison(dictator) is dead…vega used the same technology that gave bison his previous bodies to remain youthful…a new shoto named Sho is an up and coming fighter and pressumed to be the son of Ryu and Sakura…other past characters make cameo’s…the rest of the cast are brand new fighters…
so you have Mel,Sean,Ryu,Vega, and Sho as the known characters…
If I were making SF5 I’d just focus on making it as fun to play as possible and forget about listening to the hardcore scene.
Making a fighting game competitive/tournament worthy is a crap shoot and shouldn’t be its focus. SF2 only worked as such because it kept things really simple. SF3 was arguably the most enjoyable SF game ever and it didn’t give a rip about balance, it was focused on casual players for much of its life.
Killer Instinct, Power Stone, Bloody Roar. All considered unworthy of tournament play yet they’re still fun as fuck. There’s a problem with developers who just listen to hardcore players on how to balance the game. That’s how we got the abomination that is SF4, a game that’s kind of fun but is still inferior in every way.
Agreed. As long as new combo possibilities are created and having some her links not be 1 frame. (I think having all 1 frame links for her is kinda dumb) and I think we got a well designed new version of Rose. Also bring back her Alpha Super. That kicked ass.
I like sprites as much as the next guy, but I can concede that they will probably never go back. I’m not terribly annoyed by this. I don’t hate 2.5d, but I dislike the art direction they took with sf4/sfxt. Marvel 3’s art direction is more bearable imo.
I was going to say they have some form of connection to a previous fighter…lol but yeah…like a villager who studies yoga under sim… a soilder who was depolyed on a mission by newly promoted major guile…and that girl from 3’s who studies under chun li…
I could go into further detail but im far to lazy to do so…
This will only happen if we allow them to charge $80 for the game. $60 at launch does not cover production costs, and MK9 charged $20 for 4 charaters compaired to SFxT’s 12 characters. How much were the BB and KOF13 DLC’s? Were they not around $7 each?
I like parries, but they should cost meter and not work with projectiles past 1/4 screen away. Keep Focus attacks. Remove shortcuts. No character should have more than one safe special move. Make it an 8 button game (light, light medium, medium hard, hard punches and kicks) Have taunts give damage boost, return the instant overheads from 3S, guard break bar.
