It was mostly all a reaction against having Christianity forced on their culture if I recall, and yet they used symbolism from Christianity in the songs to show how anti-Christian they were. Then some of them just start to rock out about Vikings and conquering and all that mess, and now we’re nearing a full blown revival of the religious beliefs? That approach seems to make a lot more sense…

I think this thread is just people being impressed that Odin is in vogue again. It is pretty cool, of the endless pantheon of gods he is pretty bad ass. A one eyed (An eye he gave up willingly no less) demi god ruler who’s pantheon consists of people who yearn for endless battle? Pretty bad ass.
