So I just played SFxT for the first time. I don’t know if it’s just me, but the kunai in this game reminds me of that song WAR: “what is it good for? absolutely nothing”…
I haven’t experimented yet, but since it juggles, so I was just able to raida after, and not do any TCs.
Do you guys have better uses for it?
Jump back kunai.
Jump forward kunai
Tbh I find her pretty damn boring to play. All of the things I liked about her in SF4 got neutered or taken away, and she relies primarily on tsumuji pressure.
The only good thing I like about her is her combo ender for tag cancels. St.RH launcher, j.RH, land and do a HK Kazegiri. On some characters you can land a cr.mp when you land for tacked on damage.
Yes, but this is exactly where you are wrong. If you try to play SF4 Ibuki in SFxT, you’ll obviously think she’s bad, just as if you were playing SF3.3 Ibuki in SFIV. She’s a completely different character who relies on different gimmicks, you cannot judge her from not being able to kunai vortex for example. Her command dash is way more useful in SFxT (you can use it in combo!) while her kunai is not. Her Kazegiri is awesome, her neckbreaker looks almost pointless. You have to change the way you see the character. I personnally won’t play Ibuki in SFxT because it may make me lose my habits on SF IV
I understand that she’s supposed to play differently, but I don’t like the way she plays in SFxT. Same deal with Ibuki in 3S, I don’t like her in that game either. Hell, I barely even touched Ibuki in Super when she first came out, but I liked her in AE.
I’m weird like that, I’m very sensitive to small changes in each character’s gameplay, I’m pretty picky about who I choose to play.
I find her command dash gimmicks to be a hell of a lot less useful in a game where almost everybody can do CADC.
I still cannot find anything that really makes her unique and actually stand out in a cast of like 50 characters, plus 12 more via DLC.
We both are. I didn’t like her in 3.3 (I used to play Dudley), I loved her since Super SFIV (didn’t like that much dudley so I tried to switch, and Ibuki smiled at me), and I don’t like her in SFxT =)
She is not like she was in 2nd Impact or 3rd Strike. People should stop making the comparison, I can play Ibuki in Third Strike fairly well. In that game Raida was not parry-able and safe on block, Also she was mostly about collecting stun and her launcher mix ups. And of course in Second Impact you would spam her cr.LK xx cr.MP target combo and hit-confirm into the overpowered super art.
In SFxT she is best used as a tag in character, but even then her damage output isn’t very high and requires a lot of meter. If you compare SFxT Ibuki to a chararcter like Rufus or Ryu, she appears not to very good.
Just use Hugo. 517 damage off a basic bnb combo, meterless. Insane. Why play other characters when this guy has it all?
Because Hugo is not overpowered. Aside from being slow and having the most ridiculous hitbox ever (come on even Sentinel or, yeah, Galactus in UMvC3 have a smaller hitbox), if you stay out of his cr.MK range he can’t do shit against you except stupid easily-antiairable jumpins/Armor charge Lariat mashing.
He’s pretty good against fireball characters though.
It’s just like when you play Zangief. You just gotta be careful as he can crush you very easily.
Try playing Hugo101 or SnakeEyes. Their Hugo and Zangief (respectively) play unlike most other big fatties.
Or I can name other bs characters. Rufus, Raven, Cammy’s ridiculous jab pressure.
Rufus is ridiculous, I agree.
But I just feel like to much anger is being thrown over Hugo. We just don’t know the character enough to really judge it. Back in SF IV we used to see more Dhalsims. Now that everybody knows his potential it’s pretty uncommon to meet a Dhalsim.
Anyway, I still can’t see SFxT as a serious VSF game. I play it mostly for fun, because everything in this game makes me think it was designed to be a joke. It’s still fun anyway, but I don’t think I’ll ever put effort to do some competitions, too much unfinished stuff on this game to interest me (but still, there is too much hype around the game, so maybe I’ll change my opinion after having played in 2v2 tournaments).
Anyway I think I’ll first try Skullgirls, and if I don’t like it that much, start putting some effort on learning how to play KOF XIII, I just saw the stunfest’s finals and God I want to play this game. Luffy vs Fox was awesome.
Rufus is as braindead as ever in a game where everyone’s antiair options suck.
Hugo and Zangief are good, but I don’t think they are broken or will be S tier. Maybe A tier at best; Hugo because of his sheer damage output and Gief because jab spd punishes like every blocked Tekken string and AB or ABC “hitconfirm” into launcher.
Cammy doesn’t feel broken at all. Just because she has a good st.LP doesn’t mean everything. Raven on the other hand, has a good st.LP, and lots of other great tools, such as a projectile, a good keep away game, excellent damage output off an easy loop, etc.
For now I’m messing around with SFxT because everyone is playing it, and apparently nobody is playing SF4. If the SFxT scene dies out then I’ll play something else.
I don’t recall ever seeing lots of Dhalsims except back in vanilla SF4, which I probably assume is due to being able to have an even matchup against vanilla Sagat.
Completely agree.
(Yes, I was speaking about SF IV, ie. Vanilla SF IV)
I think SFxT will be fun in 2v2 tournaments. 1v1 doesn’t look that fun. We gotta form a team to pwn people online Mingo, whenever I get a new TV & Xbox 360.
Just came back from a 2v2 tournament. It’s pretty fun, but requires a lot of teamwork and practice together.
I think the only people that complain about the format being at Evo this year, is due to the fact that they’re anti-social and can’t make friends? Just my theory. Haven’t found a lot of good solid reasons why the format is making people rage.
