Ibuki Q&A Thread: Ask simple questions here!

No, I don’t think you need a stick to master her. One solid Ibuki on these boards, who has said he uses a pad, is Mingodynasty. So practicing with her in training mode will allow you to master her (as with any other charater). and for help on all things Ibuki jsut check some of these threads:

These are jsut a few, the video thread can be very helpful as well. But take some time and dig into the forum, endless knowledge meanders around here.
Hope it helps. BK

Pad players can be just as good as stick players. It was just really looked down upon in the MvC2 days, even if you used a pad and could beat the best player in your local area, no one would care because you were “just a pad player”. I’m so glad I switched to stick, it has helped me a lot but now that I look back on it I could still do the same shit on pad.

everydayghost : Yeah, I’m slowly stopping my self from using neckbreaker as a anti-wakeup move. Links wises, I know Cr.LP > ST.LP > St.MK, I know the TC link (St.Lp , St.MP , St.HP) into command grab or neckbreaker. I know how to do the corner link with that TC link. but those are the only one I know how to do offline, online it is 20% chance I will pull it off.

Jordunable : I learn something new everyday. To be honest, it kinda bother me that’d no one really uses pads at EVO ( First year watching it). I will stick to using pad. Pad warriors ftw.

Brooklynese: I’m in training mode as we speak, working on links and her first Ultra 1. I also looked at those thread before, and feel a bit overwhelming at times, seeing how I still working on SJC and Vortex with her.

I used to use pad and I was okay with Ibuki. I wasn’t the best but I could pull off any combo when I needed to. I could also do one-frame links without plinking and SJC into ultra. Those took a lot of practice but I eventually became able to do them. Ibuki is very possible on pad contrary to popular belief. I played Ibuki on pad in 3rd strike as well.

First off: I like your avatar and would love to use him if they make him dlc, lol!

Now on topic, I sure it takes me like two or 4 fames to pull off a good link. You guys kinda made me believe in a bit more that’d I can become a pad warrior with ibuki as my main. I am at the moment looking at my own combos I made with her until I start shooting for other peoples combo they done with her… like the infamous Ultra 2 SJC thing. Idk if I should ask this here or at the UPDATED Shinobi Guide [A total guide for people who want to learn Ibuki!] thread, but after you hit someone with J.Hk while there in mid air, what should you do after that ?

edit: I never played a street fighter game before… and Now I feel ashamed.

I’ve been having trouble with Kens step kick (F+MK) what’s the best punish for this?
If I try to jump, I get caught and if I block he’s closer and able to continue gaining momentum.

^ FA quick release, EX kaze

If all else fails, back dash then df+slide to get back in

If he spaces it, it can be hard to footsie with. But if he spaces it, after block use f+lk or st.lk. One of the two will work.

Quick question I read somewhere that you can ultra II after super but I couldn’t figure out how to land it or is this just BS.

Also can some one shed some light on what to do against a dive kick happy Rufus I know I can Ex Dp but I’m not always sitting on meter what other option do I have or is it a mater of just keeping him out the whole match.

thats BS. In my opinion you have to rush Rufu’s shit down and give him the vortex until he has ultra. After that you have to play cautious with safe jumps on his knock down. Cr. feirce is really good in this matchup because of Rufus’ big hit box.

Hey recently been playing Ibuki but i have some problems against ryu and cody.

If I slide they “mash” jab and cancel anting I try.
Overhead same thing.
Teleport mind games on wake up they mash jab also stops me.
jump forward kunai, not even worth it right? since when I hit they guard and punish me since she has a lot of recovery on that move.

Watch my videos against Rufus in the Rufus thread to get an idea. Basically just lame him out with b+MP, neutral jump MK’s and catch any obvious dives as you’re jumping with air throw. Other than that just backdash as needed to stay out of dive kick range until u find an opportunity to land a knockdown. That’s generally at least when he has meter. When he’s low on meter u can be a bit more aggressive though the meta game is hard to explain in words overall since fighting Rufus is more about the mind than a plus b = c. You just have to keep him from closing the gap while finding ways to land knockdowns. HK command dash on his wake up is good at times to bait EX messiah which will fly in the other direction if he tries. Don’t be afraid to kunai vortex him either because if he tries to fly out with EX messiah u can land in time to HP or EX neckbreak him and put him back in.

There’s no reason to move forward at Ryu or Rog unless ur low on health and have to. You can play the range game with them. Especially against Balrog. Use your focus to bait him into doing normals from a distance that jab doesn’t have the range to catch. Your idea in both of those matchups is to catch them throwing something out and close the gap with a focus dash or max range s.MK to set up an untech knockdown. Just dance around outside of their jab range cuz that’s where u can land things on them to create an untech knockdown and start mixing up.

We have character-specific match-up threads now?

Well the Rufus video thread that doesn’t exist. LOL. That’s a typo I mean the video thread.

Meaty Kunai when not done during wake ups are high risk, high rewards but that’s generally in my experience so far. From what I’ve done so far, like DevilJin mentioned, hitting any opponent with a kunai below the knee will be meaty and from what I’ve been doing, hitting them in their backs(lower neck, shoulder area) does cause enough stun as well.
Anyway, the only confirmation I’ve seen this are after the blocked launching TC(lp, mp, cr.hk, hk, super jump, lp kunai) and just 2 - 3 character space super jump over your opponent lp kunai.
I’ve done this weird mp kunai thing on wake up where i’ve noticed it hit twice, one online and one locally where it was just coincidentally flying towards the shoulder area…weird, got my TC in as if it were a meaty kunai…

I think her overhead can beat most jabbers right? You just have to be spaced back where your hop won’t get hit though Balrog does beat it I believe.

And here I was looking at the forum perplexed…

Ok i have another question thats really bothering me:
why is is that after you do a kunai(after a untechable knockdown) tc4 sjc ultra that the second mp whiffs on characters like ryu
Since i can’t remember it ever happening when i do tc4 neckbreaker and its the same
Can i only do tc4 scj ultra when i throw the kunai earlier so i am closer to them?

have this to report - raida vs point blank raging demon, very satisfying. I’m not good enough to know if this is 100% irrefutable fact, but I’ve been having massive success with it.

To that end: radia > rolling crystal flash

It is 100 percent irrefutable because Raida is invincible to throws.

That’s usually due to a cross up scenario. Ryu and Ken have weird hit boxes that when u cross them up with a meaty kunai their hit box changes so that it’s nearly impossible to land both hits of MP during TC4. If you cross up meaty kunai Ryu or Ken on wake up just do the 3 hit version of TC4 where the MP only hits once. Don’t do the 4 hit version or they get away for free.
