Ibuki Q&A Thread: Ask simple questions here!

Does Ibuki have any good keep-away pokes? I am thinking specifically about vs chars like Gief.

Chun vs Gief is a lot of roundhouse for Chun. Rufus does lots of Cr. HP (except I think Gief can ex greenhand those on block). Does Ibuki have anything comparable?

My thoughts are F+HK because of priority. Double HP has range and priority. And LK Tsumuji. But I’m afraid someone like Gief can easily jump over those pokes and do a lot of damage. Is there a way to stand you ground vs Gief?

As long as u don’t let Gief jump the match isn’t that bad. Just b+MP like any jump in he tries and sweep any bad lariats he does. Even if you’re at closer ranges against Gief all it takes is to hit him with one far s.LP and u can combo into tsumuji with the sweep ender for untech knockdown and give yourself some room vs. him. c.MK is nice and long ranged and if u catch him whiffing something sweep is really good and starts up really quick. s.MP is pretty solid and has deceptive range and can link into sweep for untech knockdown as well. You can also annoy Gief with HK hien (penguin kick) since it basically stops him from taking to the air and it beats out anything but a perfectly timed lariat.

THANK U! I just finished fighting a Rufus player literally while reading your notes and I manage to beat him some what easily (especially compared to how I did against Rufus before). It’s funny because I only got to read the neutral jump MK to stop dive kicks so I used this on his dive kick wake up pressure and while I did get hit with the initial dive kick, I managed to get out of his dive kick pressure which gave me room to breathe. Either that or I would cleanly jump over his dive kick, IDK if the rufus player was one of the bad ones, but man it sure worked lol. Probably wouldnt work in the corner or to a good rufus player tho. sigh B class aint what it used to be.

DevilJin your awesome

@MingoDynasty
To answer your question a couple pages back that I dont think got answered. I think any move that can be sjc out of can be comboed into super. I did it with s. mk so it shouldnt be different for others with enough stun

Man ibuki sucks dick without a knockdown. Its frustrating trying to play her without the vortex. Her best damaging target combos have like no range whatsoever. and now even my BnB c.lp, c.lp, st.MK xx is getting reversaled.

Am i missing out on something? or am i better off playing footsies fishing for max range sweeps.

nice, jump mk seems to work fine with Rufus! I LIKE!!!

can anyone give me some tips on Ibuki’s Trial 24?

i can do the sjc to ultra by itself

but i’m having trouble getting the link in the beginning: cr. lk -> cr. lp -> st. lk
i hear its a one frame link? any pointers would be appreciated

thanks

^ plinking and/or practice. Yes it’s a 1 frame link.

how do you plink jabs/shorts

This isn’t a question, it’s a thank you. Thank you SRK members, specifically DevilJin, for making me a muuuch better Ibuki. Today I played someone on my buddy list (and fellow SRK member) who uses Bison and I must say is THE BEST Bison player I have played and he would SCHOOL me for days. Today I played him and I managed to beat him more times than he beat me! (I think it ended 8 or 9 to 4, when before it was like 2-8) I had a 4 game winning streak going on at one point and it’s thanks to these tips/suggestions. Anyways, thanks guys, really appreciate it  .

-One thing I realized against Bison, since they will always pick U2 against Ibuki, as soon as you see they got their ultra, obviously you can’t do the vortex because that is a free ultra for them. What I do, is I do a lk crossover, which if you have been doing the vortex throughout the round, will prompt them to do the ultra, which you would be able to land and jump, smack them out the air or wait for them to land then punish. I had a hard time with Bison players because as soon as they get their ultra, I try not to do anything unsafe as pressure because of it, but now, it’s easy, kinda fun matchup now haha.

I wish I can say the same. Bison Players beat me 10-1. Their U2 always catches me even on a back dash and that scizzor kick and teleports annoying. His pokes are twice as good and will always combo into a free scizzor kick. God I hate him so much. Its a fight i’ve more or less given up on.

Yeah snakeyez you’re lucky if Bisons ultra is the only thing that was stopping you from winning haha

For reals, well spaced and timed knee pressure is a fucking nightmare if you dont have ex.

For the rufus,Radia all day every day, that shit is free vs dive kicks, then you can beat him in the air with cross’s for everything he can do except ex jesus kick.

If he’s got U2 dont get greedy with Kunai’s though i learned that the sucky way.

Alright this may sound scrubby as hell but I’m at a lost with it.

Everytime I try to use Tsuijigoe, I ALWAYS get her neck breaker, I have no idea what’s the problem. I can do her Kazegiri just fine but when it comes to Tsuijigoe, all I get is neck breaker.

Now I can do it on my pad so is this a stick problem? Thing that’s weird I can do any other shoryuken motion just fine on my stick. I know this may seem like a stupid question but I really have no idea what to do.

Thanks to anyone that may answer,
Densetsu

LOl well, I exaggerated a bit. Bison players still give me some trouble because of his good pokes, and once he gets in on you, its a bitch to get out of his scissor kick pressure. For me, I always get at least one neckbreaker or takedown that lets me start my wakeup shenanigans, but once I see that they have their ultra, I would ease up in fear of getting caught. Now, I don’t have to, so as soon as I get a neckbreaker or takedown it’s full steam ahead. The only problem is getting in on him with minimal damage.

double post

D.mp i have tried selling this move to everyone as it’s her best long range easy hit confirm comboable normal.and her hit box actually lowers as she does the move,it beats Bisons S.RH clean and is an easy confirm into neck breaker/radia ect.

It’s also the simpliest way to combo her U2 without any real damage scaling.

How do you get past the teleport? Even after the knockdown, a good couple block->Ex Scizzor kick or teleport and it starts over again. And the vortex scary when he has an ultra, its almost like a free ultra for him and there are no jump setups where you have to guess where to block… Frame trapping bison, keeping him knockdown, controlling the air/ground is all pretty difficult when fighting Bison…

So please enlighten me opens arms

Umm teleport is free for neckbreakers,or a longer combo if he ports close, and as far as u2 go’s if you have a life lead, lame it out with max range kunai’s and air throw the badly spaced headstomps.

The air game is not scary at all,it’s the good at footsies and normals bison that just advances with s.mk the you have to raida or max range slide that turns into a fucking headache.

That and when did it become accepted that she could only win with vortex setups?

She has really good normals, nice damaging 2 in 1’s and trade’s very well.
If you cant jump safely, then dont jump it is not rocket science.

Vortex questions:

What do you guys do after her forward throw to get the vortex going? I can’t seem to get anything going vortex wise from a forward throw.

After crouching HK to get untechable should i still be SJing to the vortex?

Can you do the vortex from an EX neck breaker by doing a HJ into HP kunai? is this “meaty” still?

Have you guys found any uses for MP/HP to use while vortexing? if so, where/how?
