Okay, since SFIV Blanka is the most horrible character I can fight agains. I already had lots of trouble when I was playing Ken, and with Ibuki it doesn’t change it at all.
My biggest question is, which are the moves I can use against his electricity? I tried jump LP, it doesn’t work. Crouch + LP or MK, doesn’t work either. Neck Breaker: lol. Tsumugi LK: nothing.
I’m starting to be seriously tired of this character -__-
neckbreaker beats it clean if not done from point blank.
Sweep at max range too.
If you got the guts throwing will beat wake up eletricity
neckbreaker any blocked or hit blanka rolls
focus his upward blanka ball and then punish
Dont try to ultra 2 his electricity,it doenst work
use standing jab when you think he will do a roll or dont know if it will be a short or a long range blanka ball
jump back kunais close to the ground
and play lame
Thats about it what i think of this matchup, aldo just like you i hate it
c.LK from a distance beats elec also. Best way to beat elec is just to walk back a bit and then sweep. Your sweep has 6 frames start up so that’s mad quick and easy punish for shitty ass Blankas that spam elec like it’s invincible. Sweep gives u untech knockdown and u can start cross up/vortex from there.
Don’t screw up the timing? You have to do it pretty quickly. I don’t know if there’s any shortcuts for the motion but basically do it quick. You can start motioning as soon as the SJCable attack hits.
Only thing is if electricity is in your face, you can’t move, so you have to choose the right poke or just jump/backdash. Raida has very good priority over electricity iirc. Kazekiri might have a good hitbox in a pinch, too… I’ll have to check later. I always think of that simpsons episode where Lisa does the “Is Bart smarter than a Gerbil?” experiment and Bart keeps getting shocked trying to get his treat.
If you’re letting Blanka get in you’re face you’re messing up the spacing game to begin with. Though yeah if he gets in your face and starts doing jab to electricity just block it out and look for an opportunity to s.LP or s.MK to LK kazekiri to space yourself away from him.
I need advice on how to work with Ibuki’s normals. I feel like a scrub when using her. Only way i can get in is by fishing for unsafe neckbreakers and doing vortex shenanigans.
I need some decent pokes i can use to get in. cf. mk is good but i cant link anything off of it right afterwards. Also once i get in, wat are her mixup options. Do i just hit-confirm with a target combo and end with TSJ?
Is st.mk xx TSJ a good poke to use or is there anything better? What can i pressure them with?
cr.MK is not a good poke unless you’re 100% sure it’s going to hit. -10 on block means big incoming punish. Even then if you hit them, you have to hit at max range or you still get punished.
The first page of this thread has info on pokes.
Once you get in, you vortex.
I’m guessing TSJ = tsumuji. lk.tsumuji is a good poke too due to its fast startup and minimal knockback of your opponent.
afaik: if they weren’t doing a move or weren’t in recovery frames, yes. the lame fireball will still hit and put the opponent in a knockdown, but the dmg is minimal at best.
Does blanka’s ex vertical ball prevent vortexing? I just tried it against this 3500PP blanka and ex ball hit me everytime. Maybe I was just mistiming or something?
On another note, it seems when doing EX tsumuji, switching from high to low kicks leaves a tiny window for your opponent to reversal (eg: reversal dp or ultra). Only seems to work when switching on the 3rd or 4th hits (H H L or H H H L). Switching on the 2nd hit (H L) or switching back and forth (H L L H) doesn’t seem to work.
This happens to me on the regular whenever I fight Blanka. There have been times when I managed to hit them with the kunai and continued my vortex but when I tried to do it again, I get hit with EX vertical ball. IDK if it’s because I timed it wrong or if they didn’t try to EX vertical ball the first time but whenever I fight blanka and I have a good momentum going or mid to low health, I don’t try to vortex in fear that they’ll turn the tables on me.
Yeah EX up ball has a lot of invince frames so obviously once he has EX meter vortex is no longer an option. Unless u have a lot of health and u want to purposely force him to do it to waste his meter. Better off doing standard crosses once he has meter.
It does but there should be a way to cross it up so that it whiffs or u land in time to block and then punish with HP neckbreaker or ultra 2. If you are still in the air by the time he starts up the EX ball then yeah it will hit you out of the air. It’s a double sided shoryuken in a sense. It starts up in 4 frames but from what I remember seeing in the C.Viper thread u should still be able to safe jump 4 frame reversals and at least get them to whiff. If you got a good health lead it’s worth the risk because it doesn’t do a ton of damage and if it hits you after you’ve already landed then u can hit him back harder. U don’t want to just leave him alone on wake up cuz that gives him free incentive to run away from you.
