It’s difficult if you’ve never executed something like that before but it’s not hard to pick up if you put some training into it.
Check the sjc thread for specific help. Take note of what you end up with when you stuff it up, that will help you get the timing right.
Lots of people are liking her. She was kind of an obscure character play style wise for a lot of people since not many played the first 2 SF3 games and she was nerfed pretty hard in the 3rd SF3 game. Though she had a lot of loyal fans of her character design and once the hype for Makoto and Dudley died down people are seeing a lot of faults between Makoto and Dudley while Ibuki seems to be shining with a lot of new powerful mix ups and tricks being discovered with her quickly. I’ve talked to a few top players including Floe himself who believes she will be top tier. I personally don’t think she’s top tier material yet but if a top player like that thinks so then that just shows that people see her potential and we have nothing to lose at this point.
If u think she’ll fit your play style then go for it. Just be ready to learn a lot and LEARN TO BLOCK.
hi im new to the sjc into stuff business
how do i cancel the lp mp c.hk hk target combo into command dash
Check post 197.
10 thanks
How reliable is neckbreaker vs. taunt bait? I had a T.hawk player taunt me and I did a neckbreaker into vortex and trapped him. Served him right.
Thanks seedyrom I was about to come in here and ask about super vs normal jumps, your post helps alot I can’t wait to practice.
@ spinning beat I’ve been using that as well as guys who randomly FA dash around…but I doubt expect to get freebie neckbreakkers the more the game is out.
@ deviljin do you have any vids of you playing ibuki in super?
Yeah, which is why I don’t use neckbreaker much outside of combos or EX for under projectiles. I use it to punish T.Hawks condor dives sometimes too. I saw a taunt initiate and I had an instant epiphany telling me to try a neck breaker and it FUCKING WORKED.
Quick question…
I forget which # this target combo is, but: (far) lp, mp, (joystick forward) lk
Is there any point to this one? I find that I can’t cancel the (stick forward) lk into any of her specials. Is it a good target combo for poking?
I’ve never even done a superjump kunai for the vortex. It was always neckbreaker -wait a little- jump kunai, repeat. Depending on how long you wait for will determine where the Kunai will hit. I was however having problems properly doing the vortex after a normal throw. Maybe I need to superjump it.
tking the kunai requires late timing (jump must reach around head-height) on the button press.
Ok, im going to be like everyone else… When/ how would I go about doing the :mp:,:mp:,:d::hk:,:hk: Into the SJC Dash move? Sorry… I know everyone asks but im still confused on it
Read my post number 197 for help on SJC.

^ i see what you mean now with the the scaling turning U2’s damage to shit. Especially if you don’t have a full revenge meter. You’re not always going to have 100% revenge so being able to get full damage every time is unrealistic D=
Using Ibuki lately has really shown me how much I need to work on my fundamentals. This kind of applies to all characters I use though.
When it comes to the moderately tough stuff, I can do it. 1-2 frame links? Got it. SJC into ultra (for ibuki and viper)? I can do it. However, when it comes to actually applying these things in matches? I’m lost.
When I’m at a range, I can’t use my link combos (since they begin with jabs and such), but when I’m up close and try to start my links, I always get beat by Ryu’s (or whoever’s) jab jab jab jab…
I can’t play footsies well, whenever I try to use a move at it’s proper range I’ll be stuffed by a jab or hit by a special move. I feel like if I got these fundamentals down, I could be a moderately solid player, but at the moment I can mostly only land my combos after my opponent has made themselves open for attack (like after a blocked dragon punch).
How do I improve my fundamentals?
Record different footsie situations in training mode. Pick a character and try to record the spacing and footsies your opponent uses and practice fighting against it.
and abuse ibukis crouching mk… its her best poke by far.
in matches where i’m forced to poke at people i just abuse that shit to death… but then again since i have so much chun experience… my ground game with ibuki is pretty strong… its my execution that is bad.
also abuse focus versus characters that have trouble dealing with focus attacks… like chun. basically ANY character that has unsafe on block or slow moves to hit focus are candidates for focus abuse. gouken is another of the characters to abuse against since his palm is unsafe on block and standing jab punishable… i always get off a bnb with chun against my friends blocked palms… ibuki should be able to get a standing jab into standing mk into neckbreaker… which is a great punish for a blocked palm.
ryu and ken are also susceptible to focus abuse since there hurricanes are easy to wiff punish with like a kazekiri if they guess wrong… just look out for ex fireballs… but those take meter for just a guess. there are alot of other characters that are weak to focus abuse and lots of focus will prompt unsafe breakers from… just experiment with the matchups.
learn to use ibukis backdash as well, its good and it lets ibuki setup spacing for a dfmk or jumpin via kunai or something, or to dash in… etc etc.
ibukis 2 best footsies tools imho are max range slide and crouching mk. personally i dont like her f+hk cause of the -5 on block bs… but that is just me… its +2 on ch so that is a good thing… can be followed by a st.mk in the event that it hits on ch… f+mk is also very good for going over anticipated low attacks like chuns sweep.

Pretty solid stuff, but your hit confirming needs work. Again, outside of that you’re doing really good. To stay on topic, here’s a question:
What is the frame situation like after blocked s.mk into lk CD? You seemed to be getting very good results with it, but there is no way you’re not at minus frames after doing it. We’re your opponents just not ready for you to do that so much or is it legit?
edit: oops, bunch of posts posted while I posted this. It was inregards to the vids you put up.
Also, isn’t there an OS for catching teleporters with slide?
Rorshock, I find that if I am thinking about a combo or setup too much, it will ruin how I am playing. If your combo consistency is really good, don’t force the combos like you would on a training dummy that doesn’t block. Look for patterns that you can counter and openings where you can attack in. DevilJin’s suggestion is a great place to start for footsies and Ibuki has a great sweep to compliment it. Once you get that precious knockdown, you want to make sure you don’t waste your chance to land some bigger damage.
Jump in attack, OS special move, continue combo if hit - it’s as simple as that.
Instead of starting vortex, just jump in with something like j.HP and OS the neck breaker.
You can’t OS off the Kunai because the timing doesn’t change on hit/block/whiffs.
