Ibuki Q&A Thread: Ask simple questions here!

QFT

Okay from now I’m going to get Larthy to summarize debates for us. =)
What do you say, £12/h?

The fact that there’s the possibility of a lag spike (ie: not consistent ping) means that 1f link combos are impractical. Good luck playing a character that relies on 1f link combos such as Rufus when your combo consistency is out of your control. And even worse if you can get punished for dropping your 1f combo, such as with Cammy.

By the way, 350 ping is horrendous. I don’t think you quite know what 350ms feels like, but coming from a RTS background… I’ll just say it makes it really hard to play. And RTS games are supposed to be lenient when it comes to ping. (100ms delay or so is actually quite playable, but this is already like 6frames of lag in SF) Fun fact: Blizzard’s battle.net instills a minimum 250ms delay on all of its games, in order to combat lag spikes.

I wonder if there’s a way to measure XBL/PSN/PC online lag?

Skipping is actually pretty rare. Usually this means dropped packets, so it should never happen unless you are really maxing your bandwidth (ie: torrenting/downloading/etc.)

Playing online as Makoto sucks? Just autopilot and you can get easy wins even against good/solid players. Thanks to online, it’s near impossible to react to stuff like dash up karakusa or insta tsurugi. And thanks to Makoto’s ridiculous damage/stun output and close to zero reliance on 1f links, it should be very easy to flowchart you way to victory online with her.

Hmm, well actually, if we assume that both players directly connect to each other then we can just do some ping tests to get a rough estimate of the (minimum) delay you should expect. I think this is a safe assumption since it’s unlikely XBL and PSN servers can handle millions of user for thousands of different games, every day.

Yeah 350ms of lag is technically ~21-frames of lag. It’s why we don’t play against each other anymore. Rufus is a nightmare to use online if you have lag-spikes, but they aren’t too common when I’m playing against Europe, and West Coast USA players.

Oh well with Makoto I was thinking about 3S for some reason… Where you have to hit-confirm after singular normals and HC when blocked. Not so much in SSFIVAE I agree.

I didn’t know that about Blizzard games, that’s very interesting.

HI! i have some problem connecting my crossup target combo after my konai :frowning: what am I doing wrong? (sorry for my bad english)

Hi!
Make sure you are doing a Meaty Kunai by doing this in Training Mode against Cammy on Expert, and try to press :lp: just when Ibuki recovers on the ground.

but when do i know ibuki has recovered?

Hmm, perhaps you should watch a video of an Ibuki player and then try to emulate this. I hope you are using LP Kunai as well.

BTW I can answer your questions all day because I’m in an hotel out of London, and the TV is so far away I wouldn’t be able to see anything.

OT: does anyone else like it when it’s so cold, your blankets are 1,000,000 times more comfortable?

I like how my pc is able to double as a computer and personal heater.

LMAO. That reminds me of someone using an air bag to connect his air cooler to his CPU.

I love the Ibuki forums. I think I’m going to pull out my 7" and play some AE on Arcade mode.

btw can a kunai crossup? if so how do i do it?

There’s a specific timing to do this, but the easiest way is to Super Jump after a Neckbreaker (wait half a second). Throw the Kunai at the Arc of the jump, aiming at the back of your opponent’s toe.

Thanks

And do you have any tips to get better at sf4?

I assume you’ve already read the Ibuki PLAYER GUIDE right?

So you have any videos of you playing? It sounds like you’re a relatively new player. You should first familiarise yourself with jargon such as frame-data, option-selects… that sort of thing. After which make sure you have all of Ibuki’s Basic Okizeme set-ups and BnBs down, this will allow you to shift your focus to learning how to apply normals in a match as opposed to specials.

okey thanks

If you’re just starting out, read/watch every single guide and tutorial on the game, especially ones on game mechanics (this should be your initial focus, not characters, and not combo videos).

If you’re familiar with the game and/or intermediate, thoroughly read up on, and try to apply, footsies and playing to win.

which programme* should i use to your guide?

okey but I have played for like 3 months and it feels like I´m not getting better :frowning:

super advice time:
hard knockdown and oki all the things. her 3s dash is now her command dash and vice versa. everything probably links into everything and chains into something else. resets are fun, do them. and don’t be stupid around sagat, yun, yang, ken, ryu, akuma, sak, gief, or honda. that’s all.
