no you cant the only way is if the opponent is close to the bottom of the mighty tornado but for big characters it works almost all the time.
Check out a player called ABEGEN his mobility with thor is terrific, notice he hardly stands still and is mostly in the air cuz thats where thor is at hes fastest. when thor tri dashes close to the ground he actually slides a bit making it great to catch an opponent with M Hurricane. Check out NeoArtisan thor guide he covers it very well
So guys, i have been working on a new guard break tech for incoming characters that involves lockdown hypers cancelled into Mighty Punish. In my team for example, when i kill a character with Dr.Strange i can:
- wait a sec. for precise timing
- normal jump, j.eye of agamotto at the top point of the normal jump in the place where the character is supposed to get in
- character gets in and block
- cancel EOA into Spell of Vishanti at once
- DHC into Mighty Punish
- Character use advancing guard
- Thor tridash and fall behind the character
- Thor jumps and grab the character in the air from behind
Its even more dirty when pairing Thor with Dormammu, Dorm can just set a Flame carpet, then Stalking Flare, DHC into mighty punish, and prepare for a guard break or for an unblockable when the character fall in the carpet, all at the cost of two bars.
I guess this DHC guard break tech is possible with several characters (Trish, Storm, Strider, Hsien-ko, Hulk,Taskmaster, etc basically any character with a lockdown hyper that continue working after the DHC), and it can also lead to unblockables if there is a low hitting assist in the team.

What should I do after MH/opening the enemy up>air magic series>Skrull Stone Smite assist?
EDIT: I’ve figured it out a bit, can now get about 850-~920K total(with Mighty Tornado), but is that optimal? What I did was j.S>c.L>c.H>S>a.MMHS>land in corner, call Skrull assist>charged s.Mighty Strike M>Mighty Smash M>Mighty Spark L/M/H. Can I do anything more than that outside of resets/DHCs? Builds one meter or so, BTW.
You could get some more damage by omitting the c.L from it. I found that after a j.S, going straight into c.H is better in the long run on scaling, and since c.H pushes Thor forward, it actually gives you more range, but other than that, I say that combo’s pretty good. You could check the Combos post for more ideas on what you can do with an OTG assist. I’m a personal fan of after the OTG in the corner, charging Mighty Strike H and then charged air Mighty Strike L into Mighty Spark.
Have you come up with any assisted midscreen combos with Stone Smite? The only thing I could get is pretty much Stone Smite, charged M Mighty Strike (whiffs), charged L Mighty Strike, (if I have time a Mighty Spark), then Tornado.
Uh, basically, the combo I listed starts midscreen, and gets to the corner. Dunno about corner>midscreen, lol

Guys, is it possible to Mighty Hurricane H all characters dive kicks if they aren’t covered by an assist? Because today I was able to Mighty Hurricane Wolvie’s divekick on block.
The thing to keep in mind is if you can normal grab, you can command grab. Just gotta get that half circle motion in fast enough. Out of block is interesting though, since I was under the assumption that dive kicks are pretty safe, but if it works it works.
Yeah, that’s super old news. You can do it to Vajra too.
Doesn’t always work against Wolvie if he hits your shins or ends up too far away to get grabbed by :h: mighty hurricane.
It certainly keeps people honest though.
Well, Wolvie dive kick is +11 on block, so the only safe way to grab Wolvie with the hurricane is if Thor is slightly above the ground and blocks, then lands and hurricane’d, or with an XFC into M.Hurricane.
I think Vajra is slightly unsafe on block so Thor can grab Strider when he lands
Trish dive kick is very safe on block, Akuma DK is safe, Doom DK is dash cancellable in other words safe, etc etc.
It’s only +11 if he gets you to block it when he’s really close to the ground. Afaik, it’s a free grab if you block it high. Of course chicken blocking makes it easier.
Frame advantage on jumping attacks is extremely misleading because it depends largely on where the attack connects.
It was explained to me that landing removes all of the hit stun an attack does to your character. chicken blocking Wesker’s S makes it punishable. So chicken blocking dive should lead to a free grab, command or otherwise. Now that I think about it I never really sat down to test chicken blocks into mighty hurricanes to see if this was: a) true, b) a way to punish more things with command grab.
Hate wolverine though, he makes Thor look retarded because that dive kick can hit him out of strikes. Really though, wtf is that about.
Divekick loses hard to fully charged strikes and H Mighty Hurricane if they’re poorly placed.
It’s an awful matchup upclose, but Thor can just choose to kill Wolverine on a whim pretty much whenever he wants if he’s willing to blow X-factor (and 2 bars) . I think it’s worth it sometimes. In Vanilla he didn’t have this luxury, because the more spastic the Wolverine, the more likely you would get hit out of the non-invincible startup frames of Mighty Punish.
I hate Wolvie and all his BS. the s.L, the overhead, the TOD damage that kills Thor, the frame advantage on block, the retarded wavedash speed, derpserker slash, the ducking under Mighty Sparks L, but more than anything, the damn dive kick that crossup and staggers for a ******* long period of time.
I learned to just XFC into mighty hurricane and kill him after of a derpserker slash into derpserker charge or a divekick.
I may have just inspired new Thor tech…

I think i finally found the first real unescapable Thor mighty hurricane setup, and if it’s not unescapable, then it is VERY nasty and very hard to avoid. The Thor player must be a real god in the timing though. It goes like this:
- Put the other character under a lockdown assist while making him/her stay in the air and in the corner (for example, using cold star on incoming characters)
- The moment the character touch the floor, do a Mighty Hurricane H
If the other player just stay there then the character will be grabbed in 1 frame with no escape options
3.1 Mighty Hurricane H into TOD
If the other player jumps (press up the moment the character touch the floor):
3.2 Activate XF at once, cancelling the ground M.Hurricane H
4. TK Mighty hurricane H (L / M makes the timing much easier, but is more risky)
5. Mighty Hurricane into TOD
This **** happens in 2 frames, and equals a dead character (not possible of course against Sentinel, Morrigan and V.Joe). The TK Mighty Hurricane won’t give the other character any chance to activate normals because it happens so fast, and Thor will be out of the grab range for most of the characters if not all the characters so i think he cannot be counter-grabbed (maybe another Thor can do it).
Oh and it’s a 50/50 setup without the XF btw.
