I Will Strike You Down With All the Power At My Command - Ultimate Thor Combo/Reset Thread

That’s certainly interesting. Good to know for that situation. I usually just go for a :m: Mighty Smash into launch and air combo.

Oh, and just in case there’re still people who don’t know, throws scale combos like crazy, but they only scale the guy who does the throw. Now there’re certain characters who throw people to the ground and have the ability to hard tag out into another character and start up a combo of their own. The best part about it, that combo isn’t affected by throw scaling. Thor’s ground throw good enough to this with. If you have a character that can OTG into a full combo, be sure to keep this in mind.

I dont know if it’s old, but i found a way to TOD any character in the corner (no XF, no assists), as long as Thor start a combo with a stock of more or less two bars. For example, starting with a j.Mighty Hurricane H:

in the corner or close to the corner
**j. M.Hurricane H, cr.H, s.S, superjump, j.MMH, delay, j.S, land, fully charged Mighty Smash H, Mighty Smash M, Mighty Tornado **the moment the second hitbox of M.Smash touch the character, when Thor will be the closest to the ground but without landing, Mighty Smash L the moment Mighty Tornado concludes, Mighty Tornado after of the smash L first hit, at the highest point; the first hit of m.smash L has fixed hitstun, not affected by combo lenght, character go into soft knockdown due to the float status caused by the Tornado, fully charged s.Mighty Strike H, fully charged j.Mighty Strike L, Mighty Spark M, Mighty Tornado.

A triple M.Tornado combo that kills, and it gets even more ridiculous with Hidden missiles, Cold Star, or OTG extentions mid combo.

Agreed LegendaryDJ. After a back throw, I used to do :m: Mighty Smash into launcher and an air combo but now I’ve added into my game the j.L, j.M, j.S loop and end it with :l: Mighty Spark into Mighty Tornado but now its good to see a reset option if I want to use it.

@serpentarus: That sounds interesting and I’ll have to check that to see if I can do it.

@Anim8td_fan and @LegendaryDJ Yeah the damage off of a normal throw, for Thor, is absolutely abysmal regardless of what you do, ~500, 600k at most. However the reset gives you so many more options, you just gotta be willing to guess which way they recover. 99% of the time I see people back recover, but if they front roll you just do H Mighty Strike into command grab. I just think of this as one more trick in the book. Nothing more, nothing less.

Actually i think it’s a terrible idea to end a combo with a whiffed j.Strike L. Very unsafe, punishable, and sounds bad, considering all the setups Thor can use for resets. Out of a regular ground grab Thor can kill if he is close to the corner (with assists), burn XF and kill, if he has Doom in the team, hard tag for his OTG bnb, go for TACs (why not), or do a regular combo (preferably the jump loop) into hard knockdown for the wake up mixups. And dont forget the Mighty Smash H into Mighty Hurricane / j.S / charged s.Mighty Strike H corner resets. So many good options…

Actually it’s not very unsafe or punishable, though I can’t say much about it sounding bad. If you’re doing it correctly Thor hits the ground just as they are standing, leaving you the option to block if you feel the opponent is going to wake up pressing buttons. Here’s another example if they roll forward, you use H Mighty Strike, and Thor is on the ground just waiting. I don’t see how this is much more or less safe than many of his other options.

From Abegen’s stream
corner down tac
MM xx.m.spark, M xx.m.spark, air dash up LLM xx.m.spark, S otg assist h.spark

Yeah I found this out recently, and This combo is insanely good. Every Thor player should be doing it if they have an otg on their team. I actually do ADD, Hspark, Mspark,j.s, otg tk Hspark, tornado, msmash, tornado, adds about 700k to a tac in the corner. This lets me TOD off of wesker’s air throw or command grab. And they say doom has the best tac damage…

Lets just hope they aren’t mashing that A2 button.

That’s 2 bars though.

Looping 2 fully charged Mighty strikes and a :m: spark off the assist then DHC’ing would probably get you more damage.

The 2nd tornado is there if you need it but, unless you are fighting haggar, tron, hulk or thor you shouldn’t need it. And the damage is pretty much the same, there are a lot of hits at that point and Hspark doesn’t scale much at all. Also Its much easier as the M spark into tornado after 2 charges strikes isn’t that consistent because it doesn’t combo normally. You need to hit the spark above them so it gets the slow fall or tornado will not hit. with the bottom of the spark.

I dunno, I find it pretty darn consistent now. Getting the floaty tornado means you’re most likely not mashing either so you’re losing more damage.

It’s all about preference though.

could i get the notation for what you are discussing here? We are still talking about the TAC thor combo correct?

I’d assume so yeah. If you do the “abegen” TAC combo and use an OTG, say skrull’s, I would imagine Duck Strong is talking about fully charged H Mighty Strike, fully charged L Mighty Strike, and then M spark into Thornado and whatever you use for a DHC. It’s pretty heavy damage too.

damn i just made a team with Vergil or modok/Thor/she hulk. gonna try this shit out. I normally just do otg into one mighty strike idk why i havent been adding another strike and spark for extra damage!

Is there video footage of this?

Its easy to do, just mash out the air sparks. The 2nd tornado is done by buffering the msmash near the end of the tornado animation. It is usually overkill unless you grab a max life character. This is a corner TAC only mind you. Off of a left/right tac Airdash down towards them j.h(whiff) Mspark, j.s, otg combo. I saw some Japanese Thor player do the tac combo, I forget where I saw it. He used Thor wesker Racoon.

That’s pretty cool, but with most assists you can still get around 500k meterless off his ground throw and put yourself in a better reset situation in the corner.

Saitsuofleaves asked me to post his replicated Abegen TAC combo. I’m not a Thor expert, but it does look super slick:

That’s what’s up. Added to the list.
