I’m from Michigan and I never make it out to anything either. I’m pretty shitty at the game - most of the MI guys who remember me at all could tell you that. That didn’t stop me from going out a few times for kicks and meeting the scene and the community. I simply can’t make it out as much because of how much I work.
Regardless, every single person I’ve met in the MI scene has been extremely helpful and really cool to me. You just need to be the same way if thats how you want to be treated. It’s not hard to chill out and have fun, ya know? Don’t even go with the intent of winning a ranbat because chances are you won’t. Go with the intent of leveling yourself up. Play some casuals with everybody, ask specific players for matchup help or even just do a little theory fighter with people there. Making friends in the community is the first step to being accepted by them and becoming a solid fighting game player in the first place.
The bottom line is if you aren’t having any fun with the game then quit. Nobody is forcing you to play and nobody is forcing you to be a part of the MI fighting scene. Do whatever you want but realize it’s not MI’s fault or it’s players’ fault that you aren’t progressing and can’t make it out. We all make our own paths and do our own things so, with all due respect, STFU and make a decision like a grown ass man because sitting around bitching and trolling is getting you nowhere but deeper down people’s shitlists.
