I simply used sentinel as an example to back up my point, since he is the example most people base their “capcom listens to scrubs” opinion on. Besides my point was you shouldn’t worry bout hawkeye getting unnecessary nerfs, chances are if he gets nerfed he prolly deserved it.
As for the slide, it looks really good in the vids, probably just a little less than she-hulk range. Hopefully he can kara his specials, can’t think of any practical uses(since he is a keep away character) but its always nice to have, mess up peoples spacing and shit ala SF 4 sagat.
If you don’t think Capcom listens to scrubs then WHY is Phoenix wright in the game. Most of the people supporting these goofy characters like Frank west who was ASS in TVC btw and Phoenix will not play them past a month and that just annoys me. The same thing happened with the Army of people who said they will stick with Arthur no matter what; so where are all those Arthur mains? Playing Wesker,Dorm,Mags right now. Not attacking you just sayin’
I think the whole reason he has that slide might have to do with a relaunch combo off his piercing arrows is my conspiracy. At the very least it’ll give him a range punish that will probably be special cancelable like Deadpool which is still useful.
Respectable point, but you have to make the distinction between fans and scrubs, the fans are the people who wanted dante/deadpool/juggernaut etc in the game, I doubt there were too many casual fans begging for arthur to be included. The scrubs are the ones who complain(to this date might i add) about projectile spam from anyone even arthur and modok and complain about any strategy that doesn’t suit their liking. Really if you play online you’ll notice the people scrubs complain about are rarely ever the actual top tier. Most scrubs don’t complain bout wolverine, and I actually know a group of people who didn’t even know phoenix had an alternate form and thought she was garbage. But yea thats just my opinion, I think capcoms balancing division get a lot more hate than they deserve.
When it comes to character selection then I will agree with you that capcom does take fan input into consideration(or phoenix wright would never have made it into a fighting game. But I mean other than phoenix wright, most of the new characters are pretty darn obscure, I mean firebrand? Iron fist? Rocker raccoon? Characters you know weren’t put in based of fan feedback.
On a side note, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y7LSS7giMvE&feature=feedu if y’all check out about 29 seconds in you’ll see a brief clip of hawkeye doing the super scatter shot hyper and then jumping(maybe super jumping not sure) and following up with a regular electric shot. So Im guessing he can follow up that hyper with more than just the tracking shot although of the top of my head I don’t see him getting too much mileage off the end since he just doesn’t seem to be designed that way.
I’m still not too certain from reading all of this, but if you can followup otg with Arrow Rain Super, and you can follow up arrow rain with an arrow, and you have an arrow that causes OTG, would there be some sort of short loop possible?
Probably not because of two things, one is this loop would require meter so it won’t be infinite but more importantly you are only allowed a certain number of otgs per combo(unless your dante) so if a loop is possible, there would be a limit to the number of times you can do it.
I wouldn’t worry about Hawk or defense for Ultimate. People will get super annoyed with the new emphasise on defense and zoning (or maybe spamming?), and will probably complain about it…until some tournament comes around, and some player wreckes havok through all the zoning teams with an anti-zoning team. I mean, Vanilla was considered a defensive game apon release. Less than 3 weeks later, with the first tourny, people turned the game on it’s head by showing rushdown was the true power of Vanilla. The rest is history.
So keep your cool everyone. The game isn’t out yet. Chill. Except Doom. Fuck him.
I don’t like Doom. Not as a Marvel character and icon mind you, because he is awesome. Just his MvC3 counterpart. And the fact there giving him nothing but buffs annoy me to all kingdom come. He really doesn’t need them.
Now maybe if they gimped some his stupid offensive rushdown, like j.m, tridash, and cancelable foot-dive resets…then yeah, I’d think otherwise.
Yea i know, it woulda been an awesome costume(blue and yellow is one of the sexiest combos in existence) but the splashes of purple just ruined it. Oh well least he has some nice alts, it shouldn’t be too hard to pair him with other characters since he has all the primary colors.
Doom is so much of a better Point character than people give him credit for.
I think this is because he is put at anchor which has many factors that go against him.
I saw Doom in a recent UMVC3 build and he was pretty much vanilla Magneto but with more tools.
I totally think he should get a life nerf or have his specials be slowed down or something.
At least you aren’t losing to a dumb character like Wolverine or Phoenix that no one likes and is everywhere. You get crushed by one of, if not the, most epic villains ever.
huh? UMVC3 Doom isn’t really like Vanilla Mags. Vanilla Mags took you to the corner way easier than Doom, had easier confirms off of throws since Doom’s had to be backthrow, Mags had a faster airdash, had an easier hitconfirm due to having a slide, all of Mags’ light moves were extremely good.
I feel like Doom is getting overhyped on point - it’s another character where the matchup isn’t straightforward, doesn’t mean that all people can do is complain, learn the matchup lol. This is totally getting off topic, but they gave reward to his random jS… did you know that if you block jS and the Doom fails to cancel it into an airdash, or has already used his airdash and can’t airdash cancel it, the Doom player literally can’t do anything until he touches the ground? I’m also
Doom WILL BE an excellent character come UMVC3 but his rushdown will not be as dominant as Vanilla Mags. Doom’s strength lies in his ability to fight anywhere on screen. While Mags had disruptor, Doom had a ton of projectile options that you had to choose from when zoning.
trying to stay on topic,
In that regard Hawkeye is similar but with hopefully more projectile options, so I’m looking forward to them. He’ll also have decent options up close, but no invincibility on his crossup option. I think that is good, to be honest. Also, letting him combo off of airthrow is enjoyable.
I like the idea of the poison arrow so far, and I hope Honzo puts on a good show if he decides to go with him tonight.
ALSO i hope someone else is watching because i won’t get to watch that much tonight …
