looking good man. You should take some time and read up on how highlights work. Highlights are basically reflections. So the placement is dependant on a the angle of view and the light source. That’s why on a long cylinder, the highlight won’t extend all the way since you will only see the highlight where it is reflected to your eyes. The color of the light source will play a big role too. So it’s not always the lighter value of the local color.

EDIT: man, that means my painting teacher was wrong. I was painting a cylinder to practice brush techniques and I had the highlight only covering part of the cylinder because that’s what I remember seeing. She asked me what the white mark was and I told her it was a highlight. SHe said if it’s a highlight, it should extend the whole length of the cylinder.

process was pretty fun. all i did was color directly over the sketch
i tried to make aile as feminine looking as possible but its really hard especially considering the fact that the original artist makes everyone look girly in the first place
i messed up a bit on her right leg by cutting it off abrubtly and some of the lighting reflections from the BLADEZ seem a little lazy
omega’s pose seems a little weird though. even if i’m done with this picture i’d appreciate it if one of you cats helped me out with him [the MYSTERIOUS dude about to stab her]
