No these are not assumptions but my actual experience of living and playing a lot in japan/getting to know many players.
Believe it or not a huge majority of dedicated 3s players think it is perfect and don’t want to see any “improvements”.

Honestly the game is GREAT and is my favorite fighting game of all time.
But you have to be an idiot to say that it doesnt need some better balancing. Especially to appeal to a 2010 audience.
Im sure Capcom will have the option of playing a remixed version or not.
But even so. Like I said the game’s gameplay is Perfect. But Balance wise. Not so much…

for some reason i suspect that while a perfect port of the game will be left in tact, the graphics won’t. if i call correctly, i remember one of the developers saying something about how they have to appeal to a new crowd. think about it. from a business standpoint, what good would it do them to just sell a 1999 game. they have to bring a new market to buy this game, and how does one do that? u make the game look nice. so maybe we’ll see the same arcade 3s that we all love but tuned up someway visually. who knows. as long as they leave the game intact. how would you guys feel about taht? oh yea and add that 2i and ng music in. those soundtracks were dope.
As long as the grimy atmosphere of 3S is preserved in the ‘updated’ style and didn’t look half-assed (cough HDR), I could definitely hack that.
I can think of only like three matchups where she completely dominates, but everyone else has a fighting chance against her. Other characters have completely lop-sided matchups in their favor as well, I don’t see why Chun is the only one that should be toned down.
In fact, it took incredibly solid play from guys like Nuki and MOV to make the Chun vs Yun match dead even(before then it was 7:3 Yun’s favor), and that was only four years ago.
And yes, tier-whoring does exist in 3rd Strike, but honestly that can only take you so far. MOV isn’t arguably the best player in the world just because he uses Chun. In fact, he puts in the time and effort as if he mains Sean or something.

In my opinion, the game doesn’t LOOK like an 11 year old game, it just so happens that it is. The graphics I don’t think need to be touched except to fit them on an HDTV or something. I suspect they’ll throw in some easter eggs or extra features, like as you mentioned the NG/2I stages and music.
Also a training mode that’s similar to SF4 or the VF series would be nice. I honestly do not want the gameplay to be rebalanced to cater to new audiences, but I still do want to see them try to get the new players get used to the game.
Last but not least, the online features. If they want this game to not only bring in new players and also have lasting power, they need to make this the most enjoyable experience more than anything else. I can’t really imagine what they’ll be adding, but if they go with a traditional VF-style danisen ranking system for starters then that’d be pretty neat.
Bells and whistles may really be what the game needs. The gameplay itself is awesome and satisfactory enough, but yeah, it never really had any of the features that the Alpha3 or Guilty Gear console releases had. Besides that, I don’t think the game needs any real changes. Just additions.
Agreed. Like, in that character vs. character team tourney, didn’t the Dudley team take it all? Oh, wait, Chun-Li didn’t take it? Yun didn’t take it?
