I really want to see what Cable looks like, since his Marvel vs Capcom 2 sprite was honestly kinda ugly. He had this dumb sneer on that doesn’t really fit his personality. Magneto’s sprite got improved when it was replaced with a 3D model that didn’t have thunder thighs, Sentinel looks okay (Although not nearly as good as XM:CotA Sentinel), and Storm got uglier when she turned 3D.
For some odd reason, I had this literal image of Iron Man flying around upside down. It fits how awkward his movement is anyway.
I have no idea why Marvel is giving Capcom problems. I’ve seen the trailer of Super hero squad and it’s like they can use any body they want. But i think you are right. i think we need to go for Marvel on this.
i thought MvC2 Cable’s sprite was one of the best (hayato was the coolest). his personality is the “soldier of fortune” leader of x-force solid snake-like kind of guy, and his voice and moveset reflected that.
Cable would be top for absolute sure unless Capcom took special effort to nerf him, like give him rediculously slow normals and low durability projectiles. Cable would essentially own all the important space in UMvC3 from a distance, the playing field is somewhat smaller and more squashed than MvC2, there’s a lot less space to breathe and a lot less space in which to safely maneuver through, hit/hurt boxes also appear to be larger in this game making characters easier targets. I imagine Cable could happily jump back and fire gun shots full screen covered by directable viper beam/grenades, I honestly don’t see how many characters could approach especially with assists like Jam Session, other than them having a teleport or higher durability projectiles than him. He’d be like Wesker without the teleports, with the zoning capabilities of Morrigan without meter, and with gimlet x3.
Imagine Cable with XF man haha that would be fucked up.
Seeing Cable return in another MVC game kinda gives me a somewhat odd premonition. Mostly because of how he will fair out when the developers are taking which moves to implement back into UMVC3 and which ones to throw away into account (remember Iron Man’s double-knee drop dive attack). If he does end up getting confirmed as dlc expect to throw away most (if not, almost everything) you knew about him out the window. Especially if you take into account how different Magneto, Storm, Sentinel, Strider & Doom, Tron as an assist, and especially Iron Man differ in this game when compared to what they were like in they previous installment.
Not that much is beeing mentioned about his command grab, is it really that bad or what? If it gets buffed up correctly then could you imagine what potential Cable could have? How many characters in UMVC3 do you know that posses both a full-screen projectile and a command grab? The only characters that come to my mind right now are Wesker, Thor, Spencer and Sentinel; and none of those characters would come close being exactly like Cable.
UNLESS he were to get an undeserved amount of nerfs, then Cable would have the potential to become a jack-of-all-trades type of character. If done correctly than maybe say Marvel’s answer to Capcom’s Dante?
Well, Marvel’s basically using this game as an advertising vessel for up-and-coming attractions. Is Cable starring in any new comic series/cartoons/movies (I know this last one is a no, just giving reasons)? I heard about him being reborn or something.
What projectiles of his would be able to be reflected (Hsien-Ko/Amaterasu/Taskmaster but no one uses his reflector)? Grenades probably wouldn’t, seeing as the current ones don’t, and normal Beam would be nullified.
Seriously. There is no reason not to have his ass back if they want to be true to comic books. Even Marvel Writers can’t resisted not talking about Cable for 10 secs. He already back, they are doing Avengers vs X-men cross over.
Cable would suck in this game, and he is why. First of all the stages are smaller, so it’s harder for him to setup a good zone. Meaning it’s harder to keep away with him. Secondly, Cable was only good in Marvel with a good AAA assist, which are lacking in this game. Third, where the hell would cable get any meter from? You only build meter by going in, and that’s generally not where you want to be with Cable. Cable needs to build bar and fast. The best way I can see Cable working is if you have a godo rushdown character on point who builds meter, and saving 5 bars for him. But with teleports being as dumb as they are in this game, and the lack of good defensive assist, I doubt he’d even prevail in that position. bottomline, MVC3 engine was built around making characters like Cable suck.
I still don’t get why Marvel/Capcom chose Sentinel over Cable. Sure Sentinel has the memes & was a better character in MvC2, but Cable seems like someone Marvel would want to promote instead of a Capcom made Marvel character (COTA-94). Maybe for DLC/Uncanny Mahvel.
i could see cables command grabs having similar properties to weskers (walbounce, hard KD, KD), but comboable seeing as you can block them in mvc2, and his QCF+k moves like weskers palms, but that would be redundant. bring back scott with a good(invincible) gene splice AA and you got a real BFF squad. H psymitar for otgs would be nice, but would it let him follow up with anything besides HVB? f+H should be his f+RH and it should have armor and wal bounce LOL
he’d be too easy to use in this game, not to say that his zoning game is easy enough to learn as is. If he was in this game( as like strider has his least used moves being some of the best tools to use), his QCB+P command grab, and his Time Flip would be useable in the game. I can hypthesizze that his HP gun would make him loop combos just as well, or better than Wesker’s gun. And dem GOORNADES lol…
Nah, the appearance/design of the specific Sentinel that appears in the Vs. series is specific to Capcom games, which is why for the character bio, its model number is COTA-94 (game and year it debuted in), and under “First Appears In”, both the issue of X-Men comics that Sentinels first appeared in AND Children of the Atom are listed (respectively, the debut of Sentinels in general, and the debut of MvC Sentinel specifically).
Mainstream comic-book Sentinels don’t exhibit the steampunk design elements (extending/retracting piston-like limbs, box-like fingers/hands/feet) of and generally have a more humanoid design than MvC Sentinel, are larger on average, and fire lasers from their palms rather than the mouth, among other minor differences.
On-topic: Everything that can be said has pretty much already been said. The design and function of Cable’s specific tools would make him sufficiently functionally different from the rest of the cast. c.H, 'nades and the projectile that Psimitar fires upwards would be the most unique tricks.
Cable’s character design and background, however, are symptomatic of the 90s era of comics that nearly submarined the industry and are generally seen as anathema. He has seen success placed alongside Deadpool for comic contrast, and I think as of now, his image within the comics nerd community has probably been rehabilitated enough for Marvel to perceive him as marketable.
