hey all. I picked up marvel about a month ago and have been doing just fine I guess. Just wondering what you guys who have been playing the game longer than I practice in training mode so I can add it to my training mode time. thanks and sorry if a thread like this has been made already.

Uh combos, setups, resets, punishes, wavedashes, … everything? I don’t play MvC3 but generally one practices just about everything (other than reading and footsies) in training mode.

Best thing to do is to spend 30 mins to a hour doing a good mix of everything. If you feel comfortable with one thing, focus less on it and divide your time up to work on things you need.

How I do mine is 5 mins wavedash(even then that’s too much if you can do it no problem), 15 mins BNBs, 15 mins punishes/setups, 15 mins resets and then 15 just experimenting. I’m pretty sure someone could come up with a better itinerary than me.

It’s pretty neat to see a specific breakdown of how people practice. I’d be interested in seeing this for SSFIV AE too…Maybe I’ll create a thread if there isn’t one already.

You gotta fight actual people. Learning combos is very important, learning setups is even more important. But if you learn these in a vaccum and can only confirm off a training dummy - it does no good. You need to learn how to get these combos/moves out while your opponent is filling the screen with more hitboxes than you thought would be possible.

And yeah this thread has been made a ton before - Marvel is just one of those games that you have to start playing to get a grasp. Pick up the guide if you want a bit of hand-holding on how to learn a character and some words on how to play as them, but outside of basic fighting game fundamentals you just need to get out there and see what other people are doing to you.
