How to make the Hori FightingStick EX2 work on Windows

Ah nice one !

Updated 1st post

This also works for People that have the DOA4 Hori Stick as well. I tried it on there and it works very good so now I can play any PC fighting game with the Hori Stick with XBCD Drivers (QOH '01, Akatsuki Blitzkampf, Big Bang Beat, etc

I edited my .INF file, and loaded that once I got the XBOX 360 setup utility on my machine, and it recognizes the stick on the d-pad and the light punch/kicks and the fierce punch/kick(but they’re not fierce’s, I think they’re mediums).

my problem is, its recognizing the controller, but the buttons need to be mapped. My INF file didnt take care of it. I may try to re-edit and re-load it through the utility, but would anyone be willing to open their .INF file with Notepad and quote it here so it can be copied/pasted?

I know mine isn’t right.

uh, i just plugged mine in

And that may work with GGPO, but if you had read the whole thread, it still doesn’t with other emulators and programs, most importantly MAME. The instructions in this thread help make work with all programs.

Installation was picture perfect till I got to the driver part, It says it’s unsigned, and I click continue anyway, but gets an error every time saying it cannot be installed :expressionless:

EDIT: Ignore this, I got my stick to work by manually mapping inputs. thanks for the guide

THANK YOU!
Stick works perfectly with everything ever now. About freaking time.

I cannot get this to work for me and I think it’s because I already installed a wired 360 controller on my XP PC. When I plug the stick it, I get the New Hardware Found popup and it’s named “FightingStickEX2” and it shows in the device manager as an unknown device. When I try to install drivers, it always says they don’t match the hardware. I’ve tried the Microsoft drivers and the XBCD ones as well. I was able to uninstall the MS drivers and install the XBCD drivers with my wired controller, but the stick still shows as unknown hardware.

I really need help, I want to start playing Garou on Kalliera. There’s absolutely no info about this on the net other than here. MS doesn’t even have drivers made specifically for the EX2. I have a feeling there is an easy fix, all help is appreciated.

Sorry to bump this but I’ve been at this all day and I still can’t get it to work.

I tried changing:

%XBCD_360.DeviceDesc% =Install, USB\VID_0F0D&PID_000D ; HORI FighterStickEX2.

to:

%XBCD_360.DeviceDesc% =Install, USB\VID_0F0D&PID_000D ; FIGHTINGSTICKEX2

because that’s how it was listed in the device manager ( I really don’t know what that does, I’m trying everything) and that didn’t help. I’ve run out of ideas. Here’s where I left off:

I got my wired 360 pad that the PC recognizes as a XBCD Game Pad, using the XBCD drivers and plays just fine. I got my Hori stick which the PC recognizes as a FIGHTINGSTICKEX2, doesn’t work, and is listed as an unknown device. I’ve tried uninstalling the pad, reinstalling the pad fresh, reinstalling as XBCD and after each one the stick still doesn’t work.

I have the Virtua Fighter version of the stick and it works fine on my 360.

I’m using Windows XP.

Thanks guys, if you can come up with anything let me know, I’ll try anything at this point.

I tried it on a few games but the 2 bottom right buttons don’t work for some reason. I know it’s not the stick cause I checked it on my 360. Any ideas? If I can’t get it to work it’s no biggie since I have a ps2 adapter that may work for my hrap.

That has something to do with you loading the profile that makes those buttons usable. Go back to the initial post and click the link to the downloads and make sure you download that profile. Then goto start/programs/xbcd/setup and load that profile.

K, got the profile but when I go to start/programs/xbcd/setup the “load” button is grayed out. Is it cause I didn’t do the .inf thing. I couldn’t find that file C:\windows\inf, right?

C:\windows\inf\xbcd.inf

ummm…wonder if I did something wrong cause there’s no inf folder.

Ok, you may have to set it so you can view hidden files/folders. When you’re in the Windows folder goto Tools>Folder Options>View and check “Show Hidden Files and Folders.”

I don’t mind helping out, but I still need help myself. Someone please save me!!

Hey, thanks for the hidden files info. Didn’t even think that the file was hidden  I’m not planning on spending too much time playing fighters on my pc but I wanted to be able to use the ex2 on it if I had to. Followed everything and all the buttons work fine now.

What are you having trouble with?

It’s a pretty elaborate driver issue that I outlined a few posts above. It would be great if you had any idea whats up.

At any rate, glad I could help ya.

Try this

%XBCD_360.DeviceDesc% =Install, USB\VID_0F0D&PID_000D ; HORI FighterStickEX2

It’s what I used but, after testing it on a few games the bottom right 2 buttons don’t work on some of them. Works on EFZ but doesn’t on Mame and Bigbang beat. Probably has something to do with loading the profile on those games but does anybody know how?

Thats the profile you need to load. Right click, save as.

I’ll try messing with the INF again when I get home. Thanks

The issue is that the bottom right 2 buttons are set to Z axis + and - by default, instead of actually being buttons. Loading the XBCD profile provided should fix that.
