one does not simply beat vergil

Yeah you do. Use Sentinel.

-Due to Sentinels super armored normals Vergil has difficulty snuffing him out and risks getting 1 combo killed by Sentinel so it wouldnt be too smart pressing a button.
-Sentinel can virtually destroy a Vergils way of getting in with teleport/ assist/beam assist by simply doing Hyper Sodium Force to shut the assist up.
-Sentinels st. M destroys all of Vergils unsafe teleports
-Sentinels H beats Vergils round trip and also hits Vergil if done stupidly on the ground
-Fully reacted Sentinel can stop incoming attempts of Super Jump Air S with round trip with just jumping back and pressing Air H since there is no hurtbox on Sentinels Air M or H

theoretically, spencer and hawkeye make vergil look really free if they dont properly cover themselves with assist or super cancel

with spencer… mash bionic arm. only option vergil has to beat it is early super cancel, or H teleport which is unsafe. or call assist for cover.
with hawkeye, pushblock>gimlet.

You can dodge gimlet on reaction with DT or a dash. Bionic arm is a problem though

I agree that it’s possible it’s also possible to dodge if you tag a character in at the moment of the gimlet but it’s such a small window of opportunity that I can’t recommend that as a legitimate strategy
the chance that someone will dodge gimlet is so slim.
