I suck at this game so I am always picking Gen or Chun (my mains) so I can level up. If my opponent is down for randoms I will do that until we get sick of each other, usually takes about 10 fights.
If I’m playing a random I always play with my main in the first game, and secondary in the next to let them know everything else after that is just experimentation.
If I’m playing a buddy though I just pick whoever.
I just go to random straight away. If the person doesn’t random within two matches I automatically label him as a penis.
one character and one character only, for life and until death.
I don’t believe in the whole switching characters if he sucks. If I want to show an opponent that I dominate him/her I will try to not let him/her get a single round on me.
i have a three char rotation
ryu
ken
zangief
always one after the other in player matches
Generally I’ll use my secondaries so I can learn against certain matchups that I have no experience in.
Unless the other player chooses random or if they refuse to choose first I’ll use pick Sagat. Good luck counterpicking that.
I always pick random. It helps me to get a good grasp on characters that I may not normally use and allows me to identify their strengths/weaknesses much easier and improves my gameplay with my main against them.
i usually pick my main first, and i always make it a point to use the same character three times in a row before i switch.
although ill usually go back to my dhalsim if im getting pissed and feel like i need a win.
I normally play my test character (Sim), then if that doesn’t work out, I go to rog. Most folks will auto-bitch if I start with Rog, idk why @.@;
the only time I feel bummed out is when someone starts with sagat. it just seems impolite to start off that way. its like “cmon really? you’re gonna START with sagat? don’t you want to warm up first or pick a non godtier to demonstrate some goodwill or something?”
i never complain though, or send hate messages, i dont like it when people are mean to each other for no good reason.
I pick my main everytime. Even tho my opponent gets bored of it, I always need the practice. Can’t sit around and pick another character because i feel bad for the other player…I’m tryin to step my game up.
i like to go random select against random people
haha like me…I have 2 account,
One it’s the serious account … When i play this account i’m serious . I main Balrog(boxer) and i make the scrubs tremble in fear . I don’t play it often though … Unless they make the ranking system better.
The other it’s the clown account … whom i play Dan and anything .Hell i pick ryu and just spam Shoryken the whole match .I got a lot of hate msg on this account.
Also try stuff with my friend and e friend .This account it’ basicly my test center .
i also have 2 other account but … they’re old and don’t realy use them anymore.
i think i changed them because i hated the gamertag lol. With long number at the end lol .
In player match i pick balrog only when i’m playing a friend and we want to improve some stuff(with my clown account)
;p
Some friend that played on my sf4 … realized i had 4 account and told him to pick my bad account. So he called me a clown
haha
that where it’s come from.
Quoted for mother fuckin’ truth.
I go into player matches to train with my chun(main) against other people and people get soooo pissed over it they CHOOSE YOUR CHARACTER to try and embarrass and diss you in a mirror when they dont even know anything about the character. I dont understand why people take player matches so damn seriously when the matches themselves have no meaning.
Yea i know hey? who doesn’t pick an easymode character? lol retards…not jumping on bandwagons…lolz…right?
I have never heard anyone ever say this. How else do you learn to play and get better or get some helpful tips along the way? Online play is the best way to learn how to play any game especially if you live in a place with no arcade, or a shitty one like where I live.
My character choices depends on my mood. If I want to just give it my best, I use my main, but recently I’ve just been using character I am mediocre with to get better.
I’ve branched out a little from my main on occasion, but for the most part I stick with my Guile. I jive with him very well compared to other characters; I find Fei Long and C. Viper interesting, but the whole…idea of Guile just sort of fits me. Very straight forward and to the point, nothing flashy, most of the game takes place in considering the poke distances and zoning as opposed to intense execution and mixups/crossups.
In regards to online play…as someone who had to play SF3:3S alone for 9 months in my dorm room since I lived on a hall of non-gamers (half of whom were closet gamers as it turns out but were deathly embarrassed by it), I have to say that online, while not optimum, beats the hell out of AI.
Those who are at the point of their game where they can say “Don’t take online play seriously” and legitimately mean it in the sense that it’s trivial to them, are at a level above most people who play the game. Many have been playing fighting games competitively for years.
For those of us who aren’t there, online provides a lot of learning that we desperately need; it even sets it up into progressive steps. The rankings and points are useless, I get that, but there’s definitely progression involved. I just recently got to G2, and here’s what I immediately noticed: a lot of the shit I thought worked, stopped working because it was predictable and punishable. I now play differently, I play better in respect to how I used to play in that I am less predictable and less punishable than I was previously.
Will strictly online play make you a tournament worthy player? Maybe, maybe not, but I’d say it’d be tough to argue that it’s not a step along the way if you’re brand new to it all. Previously? Absolutely not, but that’s more because this venue didn’t exist at that time. You couldn’t play people in 3S online, but you CAN play people in SF4 online and if you’re picky, lag really isn’t an issue. 4-5 bar connections run virtually lagless.
For an extremely huge portion of the people who are just getting into the game, just being at the level where you don’t suck is enough. Just being better than your friends. The casual SF4 player probably plays for about the same reasons people casually bowl, it feels good to get the occasional strike, just like it feels good to have those one or two rounds every now and then where you absolutely dominate your opponent. You won’t do it like Justin Wong or Ed Ma or Daigo, but it still feels good, and that’s all anyone is looking for out of a game. And online play definitely brings that to the table.
Do games have a meaning ??!!
Meaning 1; expand your e-peen.
meaning 2; you like digital numbers
The only mofo meaning a game has, is that people that play the game enjoy playing it!!!
^ Agreed.
When playing people on my friendslist I pick different characters. There is nothing more boring than someone who refuses to pick anyone else but their main over and over.
You cant win playing radom people in player matches. You pick your main and you get kicked for being too good. You pick someone to learn you get kicked for being shit. The people in player matches also think they are hot stuff. I was trying out cammy for the first time the other day, a dude picks sagat and wins, puts on the laugh icon and kicks me. What a wanker.
Ive also been sent messages from people telling me not to pick balrog and cammy or they will kick me. Player matches with random people are a waste of time.
