naw, where I go a C- is the highest grade you can get for a failing grade. I did that once with probability theory. it sucked ballz cuz I was taking it with a couple of upper div physics courses. fuck that. anyway, I retook it and got a B+ so s’all good now.
Granted, I haven’t graduated yet:
I’ve failed a total of three semesters (12 courses). First two times it was because I didn’t know how to study (breezed my way through high school by cramming, never really studied seriously as long as I got at least Bs). I then changed degrees and though I couldn’t get my head around the new work, I took a few units again. The last six units, I was so messed up by the three years I’d just wasted and left under threat of academic suspension. To be fair, I did actually complete half my degree with about a 4.0GPA before this happened.
Five years later, and work for a major company, working over graduates who can’t find work to match their qualifications. When I graduate in two years time, not only will I have my degree, but I’ll also have four years of relevant work experience, and four years of semi-relevant. My boss has her MBA and has no problem giving me some assistance with material from time to time. And my company will cover some of my study related fees (not tuition) when I return to study next year.
Shit happens to people unfortunately. I screwed up, but it could have been so much worse.
This is basically it, in my experience. It sucks having to work your gpa back up after one or two quarters, but it could really be much worse. If you’re failing classes, probably the best thing you can do is to talk to someone about either A. why its happening or B. what you can do about it. Seriously, there’s people who get payed to talk to you about things like this, and some of them are really good at it.
I love SRK. Hurrah for intelligent discussion
The suckiest thing that’s happened to me is failing a basic English class (the one that universally everyone has to take to graduate) because I has hella unfocused… then finding out AFTER the fact that I didn’t need to take it because I already got college credit for it in high school when I passed the AP Exam. Fuckkkkk
ehh Accounting
I didn’t like it, thought I would.
I was originally going to minor in it but turns out for my major I didn’t need a minor so fuck it.
While I’ve had classes where I was getting nonstop tutoring and help to get through, I’ve also had classes where I pretty much just go to class, do the homework, and get A’s in. Integral Calculus being one of them.
As long as you go to class, read the chapter, do the examples and the end of chapter questions (with a solutions manual handy), you can damn near teach yourself ANYTHING.
Stop making threads, we know your whole plan. You suck at trolling.
college isn’t for everybody, but everybody should go to college. i also think everybody should be able to go to grad school no matter what their gpa. gpa don’t mean shit, i’m sorry to tell you. it only applies to the privileged. life experience crushes it. think about what life experience means.
I didn’t fail any classes (because I dropped), but I did have to drop out of two classes. One I had the feeling the professor hated me at the time (which was funny because she ended up being one of my favorites when I had later classes with the same professor) and one because I forgot a project on my desk at home. Yeah, that one sucked.
Oh shit, ulovemikeroch putting the OP on blast.
The OP is like a girl on an internet forum, we really don’t care but pay attention anyway.
I took an easy major, so I did well in all of my classes. If you are an underachiever, I recommend you do the same.
imo.
I never failed. The lowest I ever got was a B. I got to the point of being self taught and did not depend on any of my craptacular professors. The only class I ever struggled in was Intro to LAN and WAN. I understood the material but those Cisco tests are serious business.
- couldn’t afford to: tuition was rape already. Almost did with Humanities and SQL, but nahhhh couldn’t bother.
Agreed.
Also, how do you fail in college? It’s not like high school where schooling is free. Whether it’s your money or your parents, or whoever, how do you fail a class and let all that money go to waste. It’s borderline being ungrateful.
I’m curious to what kind of colleges people went to where failing a class seems unthinkable. My school was pretty rough, heavy workloads with little to no filler classes(I had a semester that was 2 math classes, three computer science classes and a physics class), the suggested time spent in an average semester was 80 hours a week. I failed a few classes, ended up pushing my graduation from four years to 4 years+summer semester. Never failed a single class more than once though.
- get her done. Simple as that, still. You’re paying for this shit: there shouldn’t be an excuse to fail unless you really want that to happen.
Never failed a mid term even though you studied for it really hard? Never thought you had a solid assignment and turned out getting a poor grade? There’s some times when ‘get her done’ isn’t going to be enough.
All of this has happened to me and I never went under a B.
I readily admit that I didn’t go to the greatest college in the world, but I still busted my ass and sacrificed a lot.
As long as I stayed full term, I had the freedom to choose how and when I took my classes, so I always stuck with what I felt I could handle, and isolated the ones that I had to put 100% into.
I failed my whole first year college. I had psychological issues, (when I went to class I always had to go pee) and I was also dealing with some family issues at the time and I just stopped going to class. 4 years later, and all that is gone, and I’ve yet to fail a class.
College wasn’t for me. An incredibly slow person I was for not passing classes with the assistance from professors and some students daily. One of the professor let me have a passing grade for trying from what I remember. I’ve had anger issues from failing. The Sallimae debt mail I receive reminds me of my regretful decision. Ha.
