Who do you play against now? Do you play against A and B now all the time? how fun
Get a better connection and ISP. Online works fine for me.
Find people in your area and play friend matches, then get to know them and play them irl.
i havent quit playing online quite yet. it just pisses me off so bad. FYI i have a 10mbit connection that other people use daily. im just glad they arent running torrents.
i just really get mad when i find someone with 4 or 5 bar and it still lags hardcore
I’ve played people running torrents and it’s GAWD awful >.< What’s worse is i’ve accused people of causing lag on purpose and such… it’s something you have to deal with if you wish to play on-line. I prefere playing with a bunch of people irl… but without the fights lolol that way there’s no excuse… if you lost then you lost… none of this hiding behind an internet connection telling people they’re scrubs when if you do it irl you’re gonna get decked to the floor and become the scrub’s brush!!! lol
- create a big friendlist with people that have a good connection to you.
- play only player matches with them.
- wait for ssf4 and create awesome lobbies with friends from your, by now, big friend list.
- play awesome 4on4s, king of the hills with those “friends”, who by now you know have good connections.
- Profit
- ???
I dont care anymore. To me online is nothing more than a proof of concept that im working on in training.
I find for me that 2+ bars is playable about 95% of the time, but I have had 5 bar matches that are super laggy. I dont have the friends or the places to play offline. I mean, I just dont have the time or the energy to drive to Seattle and park in a shitty parking garage which is overpriced to play a few matches…
I put those who say they boycott on-line play on accounts of “lag” one rung below those who throw spam because they know no other way to compete.
Both are gas chamber candidates however. I wouldn’t discriminate in this respect.
To the future!!
Who doesn’t love lag? Hopefully someday we will all be running on optical cables with zero lag… ahh I can dream.
I’m kinda 50/50 on this. Online play can occasionally be great when I get 3-5 bar matches and lag is actually minimal. I just quit when the lag is unbearable for a few matches in a row.
And I absolutely hate those douchebags who use lag switches (ie connecting another wireless device online or w/e) whenever they’re losing. That kind of bullshit completely ruins the fun, makes online play infinitely less enjoyable. But hey, when it works and my opponents are competent, there’s no reason to refuse.
A lot of people talk about how bad lag is online and blah blah. It’s your own fault for having a shitty internet connection or playing on less than 4 bars. My internet connection is awesome and I get 4-5 bars with people all over the northeast, canada included. I also play offline at least once a week and I don’t notice any changes game speed wise. Of course there is always going to be a random spike every 5-10 matches that could be significant, but I’ll take that over training mode any day. Bottom line: if you think playing online sucks, its nothing new in any game. Get a better internet connection if you’re gonna complain about not getting good games in.
just so you don’t forget, internet connection upgrades can be pretty expensive, especially when they aren’t earning too much.
anyways my connection really sucks and online play tends to mess with my combo timing offline, so if it’s too laggy i kind of give up on doing most links online. i can use laggy online matches definitely though to test techniques that aren’t as lag sensitive, like spacing. so it can be a great tool to test certain things when you can’t go to the local arcade or find people to play with. but yeah, just adding people that don’t lag when you play to your friends list is a good way to get around this if you want to play more serious online matches
Bja: You’re forgetting that it might actually not just be your connection, hell I have a brilliant one, with my friends in America, I get 2 bars and next to no lag, a friend of mine who lives just up the road from me gets 5 bars and we get games where the lag is absolutely terrible.
It just depends on both internet connections, not the one.
And like Liluoke said, upgrades can be expensive. I recently upgraded mine, luckily it wasn’t too much of a hit, but if I went higher again I’m looking at a bomb and a half.
I’ve started just playing against people on my friends list since at least then you can get good games and don’t get the hate mail either if you win.
Offtopic:
@Liluoke…is that avatar of yours from the SNK vs Capcom Chaos comics?
Well, I’m at the point where I’m gonna find a lag-friendly character for onlineplay, and keep my AKuma up to par offline. It’s easy to work bad habits online, even if you start winning more and more. Then you go offline at a tourney, and you suck (unless you play the onlinefriendly characters, they’re usually almost as good offline). Technical and fragile characters, relying on links and precise AA’s etc, I’m just done with playing those online, it’s not fun.
Commandthrow- and chargecharacters definitely have advantages online, so I guess I have to go that way too if I want to win online without destroying my offline-skills. But, I think it’s 10 times the fun practicing in trainingmode and feel the rush when things work out at offlinematches as you expect.
Even 5 bar matches screws the timing for me, if I don’t consistently play online for a couple of days in a row. Then I can spend time getting back to offline timing afterwards, I’ve just had it with that shit.
I literally I had a 5 bar match lag like it was redbarring. It was ridiculous. I was so damn pissed.
I don’t play online and it’s not because of the lag … It’s because of the competition.
How can i improve my game when there’s nothing serious or no competition at all?i’m not talking about a good casual match.I’m talking about competition. When adrenaline pump into your vein because you want that first position.
If the competition was better CERTAINTLY.i would play online all day.
The ranking system = a joke just like the Championship thing. It’s like random counter-strike match. At some point you want to hit a ladder or something for competition.
Truth to be told… Multiplayer today sucks … i remember the zone or mplayer competition today .Outside of farming kill to purchase some weapons skin or to put your new replay video vs a scrubs. There’s absolotly no reason for me .
But i do play online … Vs friend when i’m tired to play in training mode.
i play online but ive got no choice i just dont take the results too seriously and just try and experiment with certain matchups and stuff.
I play online a lot, i just accept the fact that there’s lag and don’t get upset if i lose…I just don’t have anybody to play with offline, so online is my only option.
zomfgrotflolbbq !!! that makes me laugh so HARDCORE !!
I can’t even play online…just not plausible…Then again it’s always the lag.
I am pretty much in the same situation. Living in Australia, matches are usually 1 or 2 bars and lag varies greatly. I find the green bar connections are some of the worst for lag. It sounds weird but the speed of the match is fast and great but moves come out late or not at all at varies times of the game. Lag really hurts playing as Gen. I have lost many fights because I have tried to change stance and gone into my moves and he is still sitting in the old stance and is left wide open for a punish.
In regards to otter’s post. I don’t understand the mindset of doing that. Is it meant to put me off? As all I do is taunt them by doing it as well as I know you are ready to DP or fireball so I am just going to block and punish it or hit before they do their move.
