How do you know when akuma isn't for you?

how do u kno when any character isn’t good for u for that matter???

when u made this thread

hahaha its consensual but only on Tuesdays

I’m not saying my opinion is fact but you can’t discern your opinion by asking others whats there opinion is…and if you do that’s imitation and in my opinion that’s weak. Figure this shit out through your own experiences and difficulties rather than having people hold your hand and talk/walk you through it.

For me I pick akuma ever since he was first playable in SF 2 and never turn my back on him but then I stop playing SF in 97 cause I went to the military and didnt come back in 08 when SF2 hdr came into XBL then SF4 but its been 11yrs since I played SF in general so Im slowly coming back to it. I bought a MVC2 stick and I’m also getting use to it but I tried every character in SFIV and none of them aint right or feel right like Akuma did.

 My god, I’m wondering how nobody you played ever killed you (irl) in the middle of a match out of pure rage.

If you can’t play defense, are predictable, and don’t know how to pick your spots offensively then Akuma is not for you. You will die quickly and win inconsistently. To hone his power you have to be disicplined and willing to turtle out until you get a knock down. You have to really take pride in saying “I’m going to try my best to play great defense and make my opponent feel like I can’t be touched.”

If you can’t you will lose a lot.

 but yeah Akuma for me atleast has that good feeling when I’m playing him. It’s like I know I can win any match nobody who I play against because I’m playing him. In XBL I beat sanford’s sagat in champ mode(3rd match), I beat Rico suave(n player matches), I played against a couple of people in either player matches or in champ mode that I seen in tourneys(through a live stream) and I couldn’t do win for crap if I use another player(and believe me I have tried). Now not bragging or anything or saying that my wins in xbl counts but my point is that to me it just feel right playing Akuma despite his health he has amazing mix ups and options and he’s probably the most interesting character to watch…Akuma is my dude and I’m still gonna main him in SSFIV!!!:arazz:

Cool story bro…

Brool story co.

I’m talking about ST akuma, the most brokeness broke character evaar.

Yeah but still a very fun character to play with…and as of now Sagat is the most broken character ever even Ryu now in SFIV I believe is broken as hell…

Good question and good comments. I personally chose Akuma because of the “demon factor” … hehehe. And when I was able to buffer “demon” (wake-up and reversals), I was on cloud-9. Then I hit a wall (still there) because I was getting mopped by TU/DP mashers, tick throws, etc. you name it. I literally wanted to drop Akuma altogether when I got to G1 and was getting raped left and right like a cheap hooker. I was pissed and depress as I have known the SF universe since the arcades. Back then I mainly played Ryu and Guile but knew the demon was for me ever since he come on the scene.

Long story short, I love Akuma though I am probably one of the worst player out there. That said, I enjoy playing Akuma. And each time I add one element of his arsenal to my game, I know I am become closer and closer to the “true demon” that he is or is meant to be. Akuma’s mixup, wow-factor, and challenge to perfecting is what drives me to main him. Like some have said, I could have easily mained Ryu or Sagat and have them mastered in no time with high success by now. But without the mixup, wow-factor, and challenges they aren’t for me. I hear a lot of Ryu, Dictator, and Rog players who rape my Akuma more times than I care to mention all saying the same thing, “It is getting boring doing the same thing over and over. I need/want to learn a new char.” That for me cannot be said of and about Akuma. Examp: When I first started playing Akuma, it was all run, zone, and air fireball spam. Now, I barely do that. It is mainly demon setups, flip kicks, palm, and throws. And lately I am working on “rushdown” with vortex mixups - plus trying to master HK-LP loop and X-up fireball. Can that be said of any other char? Definitely not. Point is, if you (one) wants to play SFIV just for wins and leveling up then it is best to choose a more forgiving character like Rog, Ryu, Sagat, Cammy etc. However, if you are looking for a challenge overall and an awesome experience (requiring time, patience, and a ton of practice) then Akuma is the route to go. It is not going to be easy but once you get there, it is a heck of a lot of fun. And once you get there, the other characters should you choose to play them will be a walk in the park IMHO. Just my 2-cents.

Hang in there. And if you still feel diferently (the same) after a while then it is probably best to move on to one of the other characters as they will give you the “fun factor/wins/leveling up” you are looking for.

Ah…wow…Nice story bro. I respect your thoughts on why Akuma is for you. Me I just cant see myself playing with other characters(and believe me I have tried)…lol

Well i for one just started playing this game 1 and 1/2 weeks ago and 1 week ago i bought a noobish arcade stick. i started playing all the caracters and just stuck with acume because of his diverseness and agresivness playstyle and when you want you can switch do defence. i sincerly feal that this is a good character for me because i just picked the game up and just got the arcade stick i got used to the arcade stick preaty fast and geting used to playing the caracter diferent for every character. if i battle someone beter then me i usualy learn alot and the next time i fight them i am realy close to beating them ^^. watching videos of profesional akumas do help and reading forums help to. oh and practice practice practice.

the reverse is also true though. your opp is probably a lot better offline also unless they use a lot of lag tactics…
