Myself i justleave the volume on low so the button clicking is mixed in a little with sound… I usually have to play quiet games like Garou or CVS2 not in A groove lol. Something i wont be mashing tapping buttons away on. 3rd is hard to play cause i get to excited
I can’t use my joystick at night because people are sleeping in my house and they hear that shit. (Lot of noise)
I also hate using my joystick because people can hear it and know I’m not doing anything important. They will ask me to do shit or tell me I should be studying something instead of mashing on a stick.
Shit man when my brother is playing live or practicing all I hear is tap, tap, tap, tap, tap, etc. Good thing is he plays late night like at 2am or later, bad thing is if I can’t go to sleep or come in late, I have a hard time going to sleep and till him to shut the fuck up.
His room is right next to mine.
Usually I just go to bed before he gets in and starts playing. Never wook me up.
There was a guy in the Tech Talk forums who had a custom stick with a fuckload of leather parts. The stick was hella stylish and allegedly whisper-quiet. I’ll try to find the exact post.
EDIT: The link to the pics are dead but here it is, I guess. PM him and go from there.
Jesus some of you guys are so mean, instead of asking how hard he plays or how big his place is let’s try to actually give him some suggestions.
As to the OP, I know what you mean, the T5 stick is VERY noisy, and it’s different than a regular HRAP. What you mentioned is right, stuff something in there because that metal plate is really thin, which gives the bigger sound. Other than that, maybe you can play under something, might sound stupid but like a huge towel might work, just that it can easily be mistakened for doing something else if your gf walks in.
Oh and yeah…are you playing Marvel by yourself? Like what do you do just play in training mode all night long? I think just one stick messing around in arcade/training shouldn’t be too bad if she’s a light sleeper. Two people mashing on sticks though would definitely be an issue in a game like Marvel.
Yeah, some people type really really loud on keyboards, and most people play loudly on gaming sticks.
Incidentally, I found a solution for the keyboard thing. There’s keyboard covers you can purchase that are basically just thin plastic and a lot of public companies use them. Like the local Hair Cuttery’s around here have it on their keyboards.
It makes typing pretty silent.
Gaming sticks, I dunno. Like R | C said, covering it with a blanket might work. Or switch to pad.
I would have recommended ear muff things for her but I don’t understand how people ware them. They are uncomfortable, don’t work too well, and fall off.
lol my roomates can hear me thru the wall playing at night as they are going to bed they even know what game im playing by how close togethher the button presses are
but once they fall asleep they dont hear shit and i play loud as fuck
How about a white noise machine? Or even something that makes a consistent sound that drowns out your joystick, unless your girlfriend can’t sleep with any sound at all.
I have this issue. My mom sleeps on the same room as me, and the same room that are my pc/videogames and stuff. I play with my arcade stick at day, so I can make any noise. And with a pad at night. This isnt a problem, bcuz I used to play on pads since I started to play fighting games (10 years or so).
i doubt its the buttons at all, rather its the joystick hitting against the material that makes all the clacking.
As a 3s urien player myself, partitioning is a big part of my game, i have to hold in a charge during a dash, double dash, UOH, fireball, aegis etc. And it doesnt get pretty when i have to do down-up charge motions or back-forward motions. thats just the tip of the ic berg. But my point is im forced to at least make some noise.
i live on a university campus where dorm rooms are sideby side. I havent got complaints recently,
i think its because i made sure not to push the joystick hard, rather just quckly, this takes awhile getting used to but this still makes noise, not as much.
I have a hori pro arcade, and this baby is really silent on the buttons and the joystick (relatively speaking with other joysticks out there). You can replace the buttons on the tekkan joystick to a better brand.
