For me this is impossible when i’ve already gotten worked up and I’m getting hit by random full screen tatsu’s all ove the show haha.
I have taken a breather, gone back to play ryu, slammed training to get links down tighter, and slowly am just grinding through ranked.
Everytime I loose now I just breathe, accept the loss and i’ve made the effort to sit there for a minute and think about the reason I got hit so much or the reason he was able to get in so easy etc etc.
This has helped quite a bit I didn’t get angry at all yesterday, even when letting myself get hit from a few wakeup ultras.
Thinking about the reason I lost and accepting them as mistakes that I myself have made seems to be the way forward. It will also help me improve that way.
There will never be anything to stop the salt of loosing from a 200PP blanka with a third world country connection though haha!
I do get mad from time to time playing the game, although never to the point of sending rage mail, going on a rant or damaging my belongings. I think getting mad when losing at crucial moments is a sign that you’re invested in the game when you get angry at it every now and then, but it’s certainly no good when it happens every other match or ruins your experience.
I hope I don’t sound too harsh saying this, but I feel most of the time though when people get salty it’s because they look outward and find something to blame other than themselves for their failures. You have to realise that you almost certainly deserved what happened to you and in order to learn and improve you need to look into your own play.
For example this, you’re blaming your opponent or the game when the actual reason you lost on both counts was a lack of execution skill. You attempted a link that you can’t pull off 100% of the time in practice, and you probably rushed that ultra motion. When playing online I always keep calm, take things slow and simple. Although I am by no means a good player myself, only able to reach 2.6k at the best of times, it raised my enjoyment of the game and I never have to worry about getting punished with an ultra combo just because I dropped a link.
If worst comes though, take a break and go outside to take a walk or something. That seems to work when I’m stressed or fired up for whatever reason, maybe it’ll work for you too.
Yup, I have started to blame myself for my faults and have managed to reach 2.5K by staying calm, and also just using my main who doesn’t really need tight links so I don’t get Mash SRK’s to the face all day long haha. (Guile)
I know I can blame myself, but hitting those tight little links online, noone will get that 100%, and with a lil’ lag and a ex shoryu to the face it’s sooo enraging ha I’m looking forward to SFV where hopefully mashing won;t be a thing due to more lenient frames.
