It’s not really the same, though there are similarities. Mind i dont send hate-mail to them, but i think most people agree autoblock/tech does more harm than good. I do however send some of them a message, saying they are welcome to come back withouth assist-gems.
Like said earlier in the thread, an autoblock gem makes all other gems obsolete in terms of usefullness, every flash saves you 300/400 damage against a good player.

Just avoid them like the plague, but trash-talking them for using an ingame feature is a bit too far.
I do, but I still have to play them 1 game. I have to give them some shit for even using them especially if it’s the cheaper auto-gems.
Have to agree with Maverick, just avoid it. Lately ive been getting hatemail after beating the autoblockers though, the mind boggles
Bob is UNPLAYABLE against auto block gems as his mixup is all high low moves with long recovery that go into big damage if it hits. With auto block gems they just block and punish or i have to tag cancel and waste a meter.
I have a pretty good tactic against autoblockers. My team is Julia/Jin and Jin´s alpha counter is a great combo starter. These autoblock players tend to turtle like there´s no tomorrow so I frametrap the hell out of them with Julia´s CADC party crasher, not spending any meter at all while keeping it pretty safe. Julias ridiculous lows also occasionally catch them off-guard. Whenever I have 2+ meters I get Jin in and wait for them to do ANYTHING on block. The Alpha Counter yields 300+ for two meters and about 500 for three, so before they even have the chance to adjust, they´re dead.
Other than that, I try to get the lead and return the lame game to their end. It´s awesome to watch them “adapt” when I´m sitting on two bars.
I like to combine my strategy to kick their asses with those mentioned before: Never playing the guy again after 1 win or alternatively returning the favor of 1/6 block gem by using them on this guy the next time.
There are a few ways to screw these guys over, but that doesn´t change the fact that these gems are the worst design choice ever for a fighting game.
I use to give a fudge about auto block gem users. Now I just remember their name and when I play them I select my “ULTIMATE DEFENSE GEM” loadout. Problem solved…for me at least.

Fight a dude playing Kaz/Gief with boost gems… He loses pretty badly, so he returns with Guile/Gief and dun dun dun… assist gems. Of course, he lost again.

im a fucking noob at this game i use easy fucking imput gems. But i would never use an auto block gem.
And thats fine in my opinion. These assistgems help you to enjoy the game when you´re still at a low level. Just be careful you don´t get addicted to them, because you can´t explore the game to its full extend when using those.
They´re essentially training wheels, and you´re not going to win a race against your big buddies who can drive without them sooner or later.

Except it doesn’t block every mix-up and cross up. And it does nothing against frame traps. To get caught in a frame trap means you are pushing a button. The auto block does not work if you are pushing a button. The biggest disadvantage is that you can’t equip a power gem or damage reduction/replenish gem so you are doing less damage than the other player and/or effectively have a smaller life bar. It is a fair trade. Who this gem works really well for is the non-rushdown player. With damage boosting/meter building gems to get a benefit you need to be hitting your opponent. If you are more patient type of a player most of the gems are not as useful. In the end it is a non-issue. If I play someone who is much better than me at the game, such as Antwan Ortiz (who whopped on Arturo) I could have Autoblock and he could equip no gems and I would still lose because the much better player always wins. Just by the title of this thread, the guy is beating people who equip Auto-Block so it isn’t a game breaker.
If two people of equal skill play,and one uses auto-block. That person has a big advantage. Don’t get me started on auto-tech.

I´m sorry, but I´m still searching for the “absorb 500 life every time you get hit” boost gem, because that would actually be a fair trade. Please don´t compare these overpowered buggers to ANY boost gem, they generally don´t stand the slightest chance…
