Yun and Chun-Li are always the first to stick out in my mind because Evo has always been won by either Yun or Chun-Li (or, in the case of one year, by both Yun and Chun-Li at the same time). I fully recognize that Ken is clearly in the Top 3 in 3S; it’s just that, to me, he seems less OP than he actually is, so I mention him less.
Was scrolling through g4 back when I was about 17 and had seen a review for online edition at the time so i tried the original on nulldc and pretty much was hooked on it for hours.
Back in like 2008 or 9 I saw a countdown of best fighting games and 3rd strike was number 1. At the time I didn’t know fighting games except ssf2t but was pretty excited for sf4, and somehow it hadn’t dawned on me that there was probably a 3rd one too. I tried it out on the nebula cps3 emu and it blew me away, but i didnt have a good controller and noone to play with so i forgot about it until like last year.
I used to download videos of AOU shows that had the latest games. I still remember the trailer for 3S. I was in awe. I wish I could find that video to see if anythings different. The trailer mostly focused on the new characters. I think Twelves SAI carried people, and Q’s EX slaps didn’t have the yellow flash in the trailer, which played to a different version of the 3S Intro music.
I was most impressed with the backgrounds, the new characters, and the animation for the super flash, I couldn’t believe how good it all looked at the time.
I think this was during the summer of 1999, Dreamcast was about to come out and I would always download any footage of Dreamcast games or arcade games I could find. I knew 3S would get ported. It came out in early or mid 2000 bought it first day. Between 3S, Crazy Taxi and Phantasy Star Online to name a few 2000 was a great year.
Chun is not broken, she is merely OP. Ken and Makoto are over rated. Oro is better than both. Anyone can win. The game continues to evolve.
Oro better than Ken and Makoto?
