^That might be true, but I’m really looking forward to KOFXII. I haven’t seriously played an SNK game in years, unless CvS counts, but that one just looks so friggin’ beautiful I have to try it.
I’m kind of a graphics whore, yeah. 
But gameplay is more important.

DS RS,TLB and FF need to be revived. period
2k2 is the most played…I’ve been to Mexico frequently and I have yet to see a Tekken cab my whole time there…but dont worry you got a shitload of 2k2 cabs…
So even though Saotome Kaneda said Tekken is the most played I still say it aint**…But its #2**…

The only franchises that need reviving are World Heroes, AOF (which I think is NEVER coming back), Samsho, Darkstalkers, and Rival Schools. All they really have to do is just make a sequel that doesn’t suck and they’re back in business. For most of these there’s already name brand following already, not much more to do.
As for the Tekken vs. KOF debate…I’m pretty sure it’s too close to count. But I think that’s going to change with KOFXII. Just with the inclusion of new sprites should be enough to spark new interest in the series.
To revive a dying franchise, teach it resurrection then have it have a heart attack. The franchise will then go all “LEZURECTION” and after that Yipes’ head will pop up and say CURLEH MOUSTACHE and then the franchise will be young like in it’s glory days. Mission complete.
SNK: Bring in Garou MOTW and The Last Blade Sequels KOFXII style sprites
CAPCOM: 2D Rival Schools and Remake DS with new hi-res sprites
^ This although I like Rival Schools the way it is (not that I’d argue if Capcom wanted to do it in 2d). Also, I’d rather a DS sequel then a remake.
Just because it isn’t played in Mexico doesn’t mean it isn’t the most played FG in the world.
Not just Mexico but nearly all the Latin American countries… (I talk to people from these countries)
I’d say KOF and Tekken are pretty close…but due to the Latin American influx combined with the Asian influx + others around the world KOF holds the top spot…
KOF commands the Latin American countries plus its played nearly everywhere else in the world…Tekken doesnt command Latin America…
Tekken is very close though in terms of sheer numbers…

True as hell. MK is on a third place but a bit far. Then it will be Killer Instinct wich was huge here then SF.
I hope SNK and Capcom are reading this thread. If there is an answer to this question, it surely will be from one of the posters on this thread who have no actual experience or practical knowledge of the industry.
