or a t5 stick at gamestop or frys for like 40 bucks at the max, mod it up and go at it. But yeah I had the same prob until I found some people in the regional match ups. If you have a car then use it man, nothing beats meeting new people even if you get your assed kicked. You will at least have a person to practice against, and its just fun training to get a rematch. try doing that with a cpu.
So I checked out some sites and found…
T5 Ultimate Edition @ Fry’s for $50
SF Stick @ Shop.com for $60
Then I come across hotgamestuff.com and they have the basic SF stick for $60 too and a Happ Edition SF Stick for $90 as well. Is that a good price for a custom stick?
Buy SFAC for Xbox…
Yeah it’s a good price. Cause the happ stuff alone would probably run you around 30 beans anyway. Plus you would have to install it all yourself, if you got the 90 bills I say go for it.
damn happ edition for 90, all the way. so long as they aren’t ‘happ ultimate’ buttons.
Your best bet for improving skills is either kaillera or Xbox Live. No stick will improve your skill as much as human comp, and I don’t believe in the mystical power of the stick to improve your gameplay that much.
As for your friends- just pound them until they quit or get better. It’s no use fighting people way below your level, you tend to sink to theirs if they get scrubby.
The problem with that happ edition stick is the start being right above the stick itself. Its good for $90 though as a ‘entry level’ sort of stick before you get a custom.
Keep in mind CF uses American sticks rather than jap ones also. You may not want to overwhelm yourself trying to learn jap and u.s. stick at the same time.
What’s the difference between a JP and US stick?
I don’t have X-Box either so Live is a no go. I figure in my case, CF will be the best place to start getting my ass kicked. At least I will be playing against other ppl. Then I can use a stick to practice at home so playing in the arcade will become 2nd nature overtime.
Jap = Ball Top
US = Bat Shaped Stick
U.S stick = bat style.
Jap stick = ‘gumball’ style. It’s ‘relatively’ easy to be able to play on both but requires time invested.
After doing research on modding, parts, and looking at some custom stick threads, the stuff was pretty overwhelming lol. A lot of ppl on here have mad skillz.
For now, I will probably just start out with a basic SF stick. Once I get use to using it, I will learn about how to mod it with the better stuff.
What’s the best place to buy sticks/buttons? I’m assuming HAPP competition buttons and stick are the best way to go. How does Sanwa compare?
Sanwa parts are much better than HAPP. Anyone here will tell you that. The buttons are a lot more responsive upon simply rubbing them rather than having to tap down completely on a HAPP button to hear a click. Sanwa’s are quiet when you tap them and they respond immediately like I said before.
The stick itself though is preference since the Japanese way is usually a square gate. You read right. A square gate. Meaning its square. Not round like a HAPP stick. So, when you block you hit a corner immediately.
If anything, to summarize this mess, Sanwa is for the sensitive player that doesn’t hit the buttons or move their stick in an aggressive manner. It’s gentle and responds to the slightest movement/touch.

You are a step ahead of me already.You are about to get hooked up with a stick,and I’m still playing on a shitty S-Xbox pad
You guys do realize that there are bat-tops for Japanese sticks right? And there are different size ball-tops, so if you think it’s too small/big/whatever, you can choose what works for you.
SFAE stick is complete ass unmodded. I have one and it’s pretty much just collecting dust, shit’s nothing like what you’d see on an actual cab.
you can buy some happ parts from ponyboy in the trading outlet or hit ebay. as for sanwa and happ i think it’s a matter of preference. i like using sanwa on 3d games but happ on 2d games. i don’t know, its just me.
Get a custom stick asap
you live in brooklyn…you can either hit up arcades and play there(shitty sticks though) or you can hit up random console gathering like w2z. I play cvs2,any alpha,etc. check atlantic north section for w2z thread.
also you need a stick asap. you should start with an american stick like that modded sf:ac for $90(make sure buttons are happ competition/convex) then maybe you could switch for a jap stick once you are used to the stick setup.

Get off your butt and get out there.
If you’re getting a SFAC stick I don’t think Sanwa buttons would be your best bet. My custom finkle stick is being shipped by monday and I had all happ parts put into it because that’s what the arcades on my college campus have. I’d say go with a happ stick for now and when you have the cash to spare get a Japanese style stick to try out.
