Have rewatched this several times on computer now, pausing and slowing it down. Viper clearly blocks a normal SRK then Ryu lets rip IMMEDIATELY wth Ultra for only ONE bar of metre. So it’s not just the missing dash that’s odd - there’s no FADC yellow and only ONE metre used.
Curiouser and curiouser…

Hi guys, someone just linked me the video and I’ve also been trying to frame it through.
Given the nature of the video it’s not going to have all the game frames but what I’ve been able to figure out is that there’s a reversal DP, FADC, Ultra and the game only charged 1 bar of EX meter to do it (and I’m not entirely sure that the dash animation actually played out fully but it’s hard to tell from camera footage).
Ryu starts with 2.5 bars of meter and ends up with 1.5.
It seems that at some point the game had charged for half of an FADC and was getting ready to charge for the other half when the ultra freeze happens and it forgets about it.

which is FA dash cancelled (or could be EX fireball?):

and then we have this peculiar scenario where the Ultra is starting up, and the super meter shows 1 regular bar, 1 flashing bar, and 2 empty bars:

and afterwards Ryu is left with 1.5 bars:

Bit of a headscratcher this one!

I’m more or less convinced that the dash is being kara cancelled by the ultra (look at how the name of the Ultra starts appearing during the startup of the dash. Someone get Desk on this.

its funny that ins this picture: http://i.imgur.com/g1OZR.jpg the ULTRA bar is already empty. This pic seens a little like a ex hado, I was thinking about an ex hado kara canceled into ultra, but that also doesnt explain the canceled dp.

Somebody send this girl to EVO

For some reason, I get this feeling that this is caused by wrong settings in PC version. Gonna test it soon.

Freaked out. I can’t figure out why!

Maybe it was a spanish pirated version of SF.

dude who hooks up a PC version in such a crowded area lol! dont worry, lab geek is on the case

Gliiiiiiitch.

just seems like a mash to me. It doesn’t make sense to me right now. It was either HP dp or EX dp. Those dps have trails as soon as it starts. You can clearly see it in the vid. I’m fucking baffled.

EDIT I paused every second I saw a cancel, which is odd because normals burn a meter. Normals when they are burn have a character blinking. If you keep pausing it every second you can see Ryu blinking. I’m so lost…

It might be a reversal thing idk.

hm, he might be somehow kara cancelling an ex focus? When you do armor cancels with EX moves, eg. with Abel’s falling sky, you don’t actually lose the meter, but it’s still required to perform the AC. Something similar could be happening here.

Never underestimate the power of mash. A mashing Juri once hit me with armor cancel super when I tried to frametrap her. I saved the replay.

That’s an interesting possibility. In other words, she might be releasing the FA cancel but the startup of the actual attack phase is cancelled into Ultra. I’m gonna play around with this using a macro tool.

any update on this?

I was wondering… even on hit, I think the ultra would miss because it starts too quickly…

it says its the pc version… explains everything lol

Probably some lag or maybe the Frame Rate is changed to Smooth.

Anyone with the PC version: try this input and see what happens:

on console this produces a 1-frame FADC instead of an ultra (looks like just a dash when not canceling another move). It’s easy to use close-HK and then do the above command to FADC out of it.

Also if someone had a programmable controller, id be interested in seeing if the result could be achieved by inputting the ultra exactly two frames after the FADC. One frame after the FADC should not work because you would be plinking a kick from the focus attack.

interesting…

My theory: VSync is disabled, as you can see a lot of screen tearing on the video, so the FADC frame wasn’t computed properly, but it was executed. Also, the machine used to capture the video could have helped to “hide” some frames.

I don’t think so, he clearly used one meter, not two, which a FADC requires.

Also, the move he is doing is a EX Hadouken judging by the frame by frame viewing of the video, not a SRK.
