Hm, strangely that missed me. Thanks guys.
I’d say it means that the real medicine isn’t particularly effective, since patients respond to it in the same way that they respond to the saline. That’s the point of a placebo trial: to judge whether the effects of an experimental treatment are real or just psychosomatic.
Anyway, I thought House was decent last night. Seasons four and five generally have kind of a jittery, unsure vibe, but this ep was more reminiscent of one of the earlier episodes.
.
Spoiler
It was great seeing House pull out all the stops as usual to prove himself right, only to find out that–for once–he was both wrong and completely at fault.
And it was pulled off in a way that didn’t stretch his character to hell and back.
i thought it was a pretty generic house episode overall. nothing amazing, but nothing horrible either. my only note, not enough wilson. i dunno about this upcoming story arc with cameron…
Could also mean she has something else other than Huntington’s. Or she never had Huntington’s to begin with.
yea not enough of Dr.Nawanda in this ep.
I think they are doing this Cameron story arc because her and the Aussie aren’t getting enough screentime. They are still billed as ‘starring’ roles.
Oh yeah, that was great. I got a hearty laugh out of that.
If there’s a show that i never get tired of, it’s House. This past episode was pretty entertaining. Especially the last scene. I really liked how they solved his pipe issue with a clever twist. My buddies and I looked at each other in stunned amazement.
What it means, is that 13’s hope from seeing the other patient is worthless. The other patient may be getting the real medicine, and feeling better as a result, but 13 is getting sugar water and will eventually start to get worse. 13 was feeling better because she saw the change in the other patient and thought she might have a chance to not die a horrible death like her mom, but since she is getting nothing, her disease will eventually take over.
13 hasn’t shown any real symptoms yet, the medicine is supposed to either fix the damage or prevent future damage, but since 13 is in the placebo group, if the medicine actually works, she will start to eventually get worse.
This past episode felt weak to me. The case, I didn’t care for. And Cameron’s stay as Chief was too short. oh well, still gonna bite next weeks episode.
yeah, i dunno what happened to house. it’s been almost boring lately…
Needs more Wilson/House.
Clearly.
It was okay, but I’d prefer it to be better than okay, knowwhutimean?
I agree that the Wilson/House chemistry has gone completely unexploited lately. Wilson/Cuddy is the Jason Todd of House relationships.
FUCKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK I forgot about this on mondays
House must have a bromance going on secretly with Foreman.
last mondays episode was awesome. The diagnosis itself, is insane. Gruesome, and insane. The nice thing is, it isn’t out of the realm of possibilities. A full-body period? Sweet, tapping dancing, Buddha.
About the only thing I can complain about the show: Cuddy’s hair. It looks terrible!! Makes her look much older than she is…
Also, they fixed 13’s problem a bit too fast…
I wonder what happened between the priest and the kid. They kept it ambiguous that I don’t know if sex happened. and 13… if Foreman is rehired, why does it show 13 still working there?
House’s deal was that they split, or Foreman quit. Since they “split” they both keep their jobs.
oh, i didn’t catch that. I was too busy feeling sad that House did not attend Cuddy’s party.
Horrible show!!!one!!!
House is a horrible TV show.
Along with Bones and NCIS, I call these types of trash TV "DOI"s, or, Dialogs Of Insults. Often, every other line is a wisecrack or rude comment. While House is better than the other two, particularly in terms of some episode’s writing and plotlines, the downfall every single time is all in the dialog. That amount of rude dialog simply does not happen in the real life workplaces depicted in these shows, at least, not with that much frequency (because if it did, ass kickings and people getting shot in those workplaces would happen much more often than it does). In real life, people are actually a lot more professional.
Here’s what you House fans need to understand:
Being a genius does NOT give you a right to be rude.
This is a common fallacy often ignored in the show’s very premise. People attempt to rationalize it away with “but he saves lives! he cares about the patient, and saving his life!” but that is just not true. The only thing House cares about is Technical problems_. House could care LESS if the patient lives or dies. In fact, if he could get away with it, he’d kill a patient/let him die if it only meant delving into some rare technicality of the way the human body works. If it were you on the operating room table, he wouldn’t think TWICE before sacrificing your life as a guinea pig.
If House worked at a job making video games, he would be the programmer, or possibly a tester/Q&A (a much better fit, but he’d be overqualified). He only cares about technical problems and coming up with ways to accomplish getting in more polygons per object or whatever, something like that. If it delays the project or interferes with the main focus of the game, screw it, he’d say.
The show does have its good points- the writing/plots can be good for some episodes, and there are probably a lot of doctors with lousy bedside manners. However it still fails due to the faulty premise that “being smart gives you the right to be rude”.
Now Prison Break- THAT is a good show.
