I thought house was uncomfortable because, ultimately, he expected to settle down with Cutty… and since she’s gone ahead and adopted a child, he kinda realizes she’s not going to wait around forever.
Also, lesbian plot lines make any show more interesting. Thought it was funny they ran the anti-gay marriage ad during the episode here : P
After thinking about it, I thought it might have also been because Wilson, a man he knows he can figure out EASILY, was able to keep something that big under wraps. And I never really though about Cuddy and House settling down. Dont know about Cuddy, but House seems to more or less hate her. May want to rip her clothes off, but he doesn’t really act like he likes her… We will see next week, though!
House detaches himself personally from everything in life to protect himself. It’s his defense mechanism. But as we’ve seen recently with Wilson, he definitely cares about the people more than he’ll admit to himself.
Death doesn’t bother him. He watched his parents get killed, so according to him "he’s able to just shut down to anything emotional. That’s why when Amber died he was able to go home and eat cereal while watching cartoons but everyone else was grieving, despite the fact that Kutner was the only one besides Wilson who made an effort to like Amber.
Even House claims he can’t sleep when a patient dies. Kutner doesn’t feel anything. That is a huge aspect of his character to explore.
I actually thought making 13 a lesbian was a lame way to make a worthless character seem interesting, but I was wrong. It is an AWESOME way to make a worthless character seem interesting.
so, replaying the same basic plot points on every episode to the point of absolute predictability is “best written”? all you have to do is look at the clock to figure out the real diagnosis. if there is still 25 minutes to go, you got a false diagnosis.
i’m not hating on house, i love the show, but it’s writing is far from the best on television. one of the best shows on tv? absolutely, but the writing is not on par with shows like mad men or dexter. i’d probably rate it at number 3 or 4 on the best written television list of currently running shows. heroes, btw, is at the very bottom of any list that relates to good writing.
House is good writing in terms of dialogue character development and foreshadowing. The rest is just chemistry filled in by the actors, or least Hugh Laurie, while everyone else bounces off him. My statement stands, but I haven’t seen much of Dexter though.
The fact that they have the exact same formula every episode, yet it is fresh each time is credit to the writers. They have more restraints than other shows and they are working through them. Not only that, but you can actually rewatch the shows and still say “damn that was good” unlike shows like 24 and Heroes spitz where you can’t rewatch “good” episodes because the rediculousness of said episodes shines through.
Why are you even bringing Heroes into this anyway. A 9 year old could write a better plot. NOT JOKING. I came up with a more consistant story line when I was playing with G.I. Joes in the sandbox.
the heroes comment was simply to take a jab at heroes because it’s writing is so awful. i stand by my statements that it’s not the best written show on tv. it’s not badly written, but it’s not the best written. that was simply my whole point.
i also said that house is more about the characters (specifically house), and that’s what drives me to watch it. i do love the show, and i do enjoy the writing. as far as drama writing goes, it’s good but it is formulaic. that’s a fact. judging whether it’s the “best” or whatever is quite subjective, but you really can’t argue the formulaic nature of the script writing.
When you’re scripting a long-running and potentially endless series, there are two ways you can go. You can either try to be completely innovative with the format every time out, which rarely works, or you can take your formula and explore it as far as you can. Both ways require a lot of creative ingenuity.
And to be fair to House, it occasionally breaks formula with terrific results (e.g. the House’s Head/Wilson’s Heart cycle).
i’m not saying there aren’t excelently written episodes. the season finale last year was a prime example of their amazing abilities in writing. i’m not arguing whether it’s good writing, just that it’s not the best written show on tv…
lol even god is on obama’s side…lol dude was gonna delay the world series but with all this rain…post-poned for tonight most likely. lol. how u gonna delay americas past time. lol
