Hori Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown Arcade Stick

Hori should know better than to recycle a stick design for virtua fighter. Every other VF Hori stick had a unique design.

4 green buttons?

I thought this was a VIRTUA FIGHTER stick, not TEKKEN…

Too bad Sega’s broke ass isn’t producing much hardware these days. This new VF stick is meh.

While it’s great they are making a VF themed one, I don’t get the 4 green buttons though. no Sega logo either.

If it looked like this with the proper VF5 button colours it would be perfect…

3 different OBSF-30
1 different balltop
Different base colour.

YET IT LOOKS SO MUCH BETTER.

I think this is smart. Making a NEW stick/unique design for a XBL/PSN title is not worth it, IMO.

I’m sure VF and Skullgirls fans would disagree.

They can disagree all they want, it doesn’t change the fact that they’re a fairly small subset of the community.
Do you guys understand how much it costs alone to R&D a new stick design, and then the fabrication process? It’s fuckin expensive.
Shame on Hori for offering a familiar stick with a different button layout. Shame on them for giving people some form of an option.

I kinda wish they would have used the new case design (SCV) in white instead of this one, but a re-issue of the VSHG in white would have been my dream-come-true!

First of all, my reply was meant to be semi tongue-in-cheek. Second, while VF is a small community in North America, in Japan it’s huge and would help to justify the cost. Skullgirls, not so much.

Making a one off stick just for one game is never smart (unless it’s using a uber cheap design). All the unique sticks these days will eventually get other variants based on the same case (e.g. Hori SCV turned into Hori Gundam VS).

Also, even Japan is a risk since most VF players will still be playing in the arcade.

Hey, but don’t take my word for it guys.

I’m just a lover of arcade sticks.

This guy is smart <3

When the layouts are based on top left button(LP, or square on PS3). Sorry if it sounds confusing, I don’t know how to explain.

refference: slagcoin, arthobbies,

Is this stick going to be available in limited quantities? Also, I thought there was going to be an announcement last May 21 regarding the US release date. Hope it gets release by the end of the month.

Probably limited… I can’t imagine there are that many VF fans in the US. There are still many copies of VF 4 and VF 5 floating around at reduced prices… the stores can’t give them away.

More people are probably going to get the SC V joystick. Pretty sure the big joystick is going to be the Fighting Edge with all its fancy LED’s.

There are also seem to be plenty of the Ultimate Marvel Vs Capcom 3 sticks still floating around. They have them marked off $30 at ArcadeShock.com now… Not surprised, really. It was an ugly stick.

I dunno. I find it hard to get excited about the HRAP V3 design anymore. It just isn’t as versatile as the older designs were, IMHO.
Still kind of interested in a Seimitsu variant but I honestly don’t have enthusiasm for any of the licensed/art variant HRAP V sticks…

They already made an SE model unfortunately its another…Amazon JP exclusive

I’m aware of that and honestly it’s probably the only other V3 I’d bother to look out for if I had the cash…
Not a huge fan of the licensed V3’s to date. Again, the artwork’s just been pooh on all of them, IMHO.

I’ve been a critic of some of the Mad Catz TE designs, too, but in general at least it seems like the art standard seems higher and those designs lend themselves to easy art replacement. I just can’t honestly say that about the HRAP V3 to date as much as I initially liked the design. It’s still a decent design but it’s got those bugs and aesthetic issues that the previous HRAP case design lacked. Doesn’t help that it got released a near full year after Mad Catz shipped their Viewlix design, too!

Frankly I like the SC V case better aesthetically. It’s more basic but I think it’s basic in a GOOD direction. I thought the cover for the Start Button was kind of a wonky and unnecessary feature but it’s grown on me like a vestigial appendix…

Little idiosyncracies and imperfections like that make some things stick out for the better!

Just got an alert that mine just shipped/arrived in apparently, can’t open yet cuz i’m at work.

I feel sick buying this stick though, out of the box, it looks like a mess in my eyes, button colors are random as hell, not even sure what cab they were aiming for (since the art doesn’t even match the button color scheme)

anyways, my main reason was because the housing is white :V and with a ps3/pc pcb (which is what i play on mainly), AND astro(like) layout. I know there are other options like getting a VX, dual modding, buying panels, but that would obviously cost more right? less hassle.

And this is exactly why I ordered this. to make a poor-man’s astro stick.
already comes with 4 green buttons and yellow start :v
