I’m, not sure if this could happen, but would it be possible to start up a thread, and sticky it, making the whole thing dedicated to getting group orders up and running? After the pre-orders are in place with TRNG, un-sticky the thread? May as well put it in the Trading forum as well.
After weighing my options, the 5+ sticks is very do-able. As EvilSamurai pointed out, an order of 30+ (heck, even 10+) would put the sticks within a VERY affordable option for such a rare occasion.
If you look at it this way, trying to find a HRAP 2, and mod it with everything that comes in this thing, you’re looking at over the $179 price tag anyhow.
Seriously, how do you people want to start this up? I’m in 100% if we can get more than 5 to do this. (Within the US for me) I am more than willing to be a centralized shipping person, but unfortunately not for an amount like 30+ sticks. As I definitely would not have room for that. Anything to help out and get this in some SRK community members hands.
Anybody here plan on traveling overseas around the end of April that wouldn’t mind bringing back a few sticks with them?
On a side note, with surface shipping it looks like it would be closer to $150 per person for an order of 5 or more, if anyone would be willing to wait 6 weeks for shipping.
From what I gather, it’s online only. You would need to have an address in Japan to order them. That is what TRNG is doing for us. He’s not making near what he would going to eBay and selling these.
These are limited production units. It’s not just a “re-release”. It is a truely unique item sold only on Hori’s website.
The only way to sort of save money on this would be to group buy 5 of them, and redistribute when here in the united states. At around $10 to re-ship then via USPS, the small amount you save ordering multiple units is pretty much wiped out (unless of course your friends are local). Hori isn’t letting people buy more than 5 because online flebayers will be putting these up at around $250 a pop.
I don’t think TRNG will be able to provide larger than 5 units per order either, but he would be the person to ask about that.
Hori isnt letting private persons order more than 3. Also, I got an email today saying they might have to have the person sign a paper who wants to order from us lol, we sent another email telling them that we would promise not to sell to “ebayers”, so it should not be a problem, we have bought from them before.
Orders will, as it looks, be taken beguining of next week.
We can ship more than 5 per order if you guys want a shitload of sticks (just give us the names of the persons who wants to be shipped together and to where).
Right now we got “orders” for about 65 sticks 0_0.
So let us know if you want to combine shipping, no worries.
If we already emailed you is that the equivalent of preordering one? As in, are we essentially guaranteed a stick?
EDIT: just wanted to add, I’ve already emailed you my name, address, and quantity that I’d like, there’s nothing more I need to do as of right now, correct?
It does not equivalent as a preorder it was to make HORI see that we have customers who wanted to order the stick. Although, those who sent us their name and address comes first in line, we will contact you through email first before we put it up on the webshop (that makes it a preorder in a sence maybe).

Reality check: How much luggage per person do you think they allow on an airplane and what would be the odds for someone to spend their quota bringing back awfully bulky stuff in order for some random dude on the internet to save a couple bucks? Seriously…

I think imitrex got the right idea. Everyone in the US, ship to one place, then redistribute using USPS or UPS. The more we order, the cheaper it would be.
