Hori Pro.V3 SA and VX SE Kai (Exclusive Special Edition)

Yes to both, just remember to invert (flip) the 5-pin cable.

Looks exactly just like a regular V3-SA internally besides the PCB up top.

I put in an order for one of these at GameStop for 20% off, but it’s on back order so who knows when I’ll actually get it :frowning:
The wait is killing me. It’ll be the first my first new stick

I’ve dual modded my Kai. I posted a picture in the Cerberus thread but my wiring was incorrect in that image. I can post a photograph of the corrected wiring when I get home later this evening.

Mine is finally in the mail! Should be here on Friday

Anybody making a plexi for this yet?

Cool, I appreciate it!

Sorry for the delay. Between work, school, and moving, I haven’t really had a moment to take a really good picture of my dual mod and label it. Also because of the later, I do not have an internet connection at home. The quick and dirty of dual modding this stick with the Cerberus is you will need to the advanced install which does require soldering. If you take look at my photo in this post, I can point out the mistake I made. D+ and D- on the Hori board need to connect to XD+ and XD- on the Cerberus. VCC and Ground for your USB cable and for the Hori PCB need to be doubled up on the Cerberus.

If you have any questions, please feel free to PM me. I check SRK at least once a day in class and I also have Tapatalk on my mobile phone. When everything settles, I will post a better picture and diagram of this install for everyone, if someone else hasn’t already done so.

Is it possible to take the art off of this and replace it with new art or just leave it plain black? I’ll be swapping the parts out with blue buttons/stick, so I want to get that green off of there on the 360 version (I’m picky about color combinations.)

Yes you can remove the art and put on your own, but as far as I know no one is selling a plexi for this yet so you’ll just have to cover with black laminated paper or something.

What if I were to do a lami-label approach? I’ve modded the Street Fighter SE stick with lami-label art twice now and will be doing a third soon, so I’m familiar with the process. Is there anything preventing me from doing that other than a difference in quality and lack of plexi cover?
In other words, is the plexi cover necessary or is it more of a luxury?

Edit: I suppose there aren’t any templates for the kai specifically either, but that’s just a small set back really. I can always measure it manually and input it in photoshop I suppose.

That is from a standard VX-SA. If I remember correctly, most of the harness side is actually labelled. Depending on which dual mod solution you chose to go with, you can probably get away with whats printed on the board minus a couple of points. I usually get home and jump straight into schoolwork, but today I will write a physical note to myself and take proper pictures of my Cerberus install. You can take a look at my current image in the Cerberus thread and go by that. The only issue is D+ and D- are not wired correctly. Needs to go from the Hori PCB to XD+ and XD- on the Cerberus. You will also double up GND and VCC with your USB cable and the Hori board. OD+ and OD- are for the USB cable.

Hey can anyone post shots of the vx kai’s pcb

I have shots of the V3 Kai’s PCB. Not of the VX Kai. Everything seems to be nicely labeled though.
Currently having some trouble with the V3 Kai’s PCB. When everything is linked together, Xbox side seems to be constantly pressed down. The peculiar thing is that when these boards are standalone, they work just fine. When they are connected, only the PS3 side works properly and the previous issue is encountered. Right now I’m thinking of just getting 17 diodes for this stick.

I’ll put the worklog of the V3 Kai up as well as the pinout of the turbo panel when I’m done.

Has anyone made an art template for the VX/V3 Kai? I really liked the original, and might get a Kai to replace it :<

Tek-Innovations finally added the V3/VX Kai to their site. I don’t actually see the template but he has the plexi and art cutout listed as for sale so he probably just forgot to upload the template. I’ve sent an email his way inquiring about the template and will update you guys as soon as I hear back.

Is there anywhere i can get this stick for the PS3 brand new?
The only website i could find that has it brand new is the japanese amazon website, which i could get from there but i’m pretty sure it would be about 230$ with the shipping and handling. Anybody know a more convenient way to get it? I don’t want it used, brand new only.

I want this stick specifically because of the Sanwa parts, i hear a lot about them so i want to try them out.
I know i can order the parts separately and put them in another stick and save money, but i just want to have everything already ready, and money isn’t a problem for me.

I know there is also that DOA stick for the PS3 that has the Sanwa parts and i might get that instead depending on convenience, but i really want the Hori Kai

Most sticks that are not $39 ones come with Sanwa parts.

A lot of sticks here to choose from, the V3 SA “kai” version isn’t one of them though. But almost all on that page come with Sanwa parts.

Your not going to find a Hori Real Arcade Pro V3/VX SA Kai brand new very easily. Just shoot for a used one in good condition. You aren’t going to get a NEW Hori V3 Kai for cheap.
Anyways Sanwa parts are standard on both the regular and Kai versions of the Hrap V3/VX. And if a Hori Real Arcade Pro lacks Sanwa parts, part swaps are relatively easy.

There are lots of options if sanwa parts are your primary concern.

Yeah your right it’s hard to get, but i did manage to find it brand new.
Hori Kai
The HRAP V3 SA Kai will probably cost about $240 with shipping, but the other HRAP V3 SA is easier and cheaper to get brand new and as far as i know the only difference is the stick has been moved away from the buttons by about an inch on the Kai, so i’m deciding between the two.

I really wish i could use it on the PS4, i’m not sure if that’s possible (probably not), but i guess they’ll eventually come out with a decent PS4 stick. I know about the V4 Hayabusa, but i haven’t been hearing too much positive feed back about the Hayabusa parts, so i’ll just wait, i know i can just swap the parts, but it’s not like i’m in a rush to buy a PS4 right now anyway
