why cant hori just come out and say they will sell replacement parts? its like they dont want my money…
I think this stick is an experiment… IF it sells well AND the feedback from tourney gamers and hardcore at home is GREAT, then Hori will probably go ahead and expand its homegrown parts into other parts of its joystick line. Maybe even market the parts for arcade. That’s a BIG IF and a financial gamble on their part.
Of course, Hori could face negative consequences from Sanwa… Sanwa sees itself as the main pro stick supplier and seeing one of their potential sources of revenue dry up I would imagine is not a pleasant prospect! Seimitsu parts are used in so few mass-market production joysticks that they’re not as significant a factor… unless some joystick manufacturer gets smarter and starts making stick in huge numbers with Seimitsu parts instead of the very limited editions we get from Hori.
I do suspect many of us will NOT change our preferences and stick to Sanwa/Seimitsu. I can live with Hori buttons IF they’re at least as good as the PS-14-G’s BUT would probably take out the joystick if it’s like the JLF. I don’t need a JLF clone and there are other people like me on that point.
To be honest, I’m about 50/50 on the prospects of Hori-standardized parts. I’d think the buttons would be the part they’re least likely to screw up… It’s by far the worst feature in their cheaper joystick lines and character-license HRAP’s. This is something they HAVE to get right on the Fighting Edge.
As far as producing a JLF clone, I think other companies (Ascii) have done it; even cheaper the Hori joysticks (Tekken 5, Fight Sticks) are generally kept in cheaper mods until they break – unless the modder is a JLF or Seimitsu fanatic. This new joystick lever has to last at least a few years. I don’t think we’ll know the true level of success with these parts for at least 2 years with the general gaming crowd, 1 year minimum for people that play with the joystick 24/7. We’ll find out how really well engineered the new parts are from those guys, not some gamers doing reviews online or a hired company rep. It’s the skeptics and cynics who’ll be more convincing!
Should be getting it this weekend.
You guys got tracking info already? Maybe you guys pre-ordered earlier than I did. =(
I’m hoping I get mine by the 25th…
I got my tracking number one of these past days too. Too bad I won’t be getting it until the 27th ;( I take an L this time for being on the east coast it seems
I just crumbled and ordered mine. Hopefully they figure out what they are going to do about replacement parts.
coming out tomorrow on my bday still broke ;_;
cmon birthday moneysssssss
Any of you guys play with the Configure Mode?
It has been few weeks.
And I thought was normal.
I can only Configuration of LB LT RB RT.
ABXY cannot.
Reading keits and ShinJN, they say can do all.
Mine is only four of eight buttons.
Doesn’t seem right to me.
Hoping mine gets here today. Can’t wait to try it out.
Anyone else who didn’t receive their tracking info yet?
just got mine in the mail hori is da best
edit is it possible to config the a b x y buttons because the don’t light up in config mode?
I thought at first that maybe ABXY just does not light up but can configurate.
But is not the case with mine, I can’t map them.
So I do not know if mine is wrong or supposed to be like that.
I’ll bet Microsoft’s licensing agreement requires that the buttons must remain mapped to the correct “colors”.
Wow people are getting their’s right now? I just got my tracking number
That is DISAPPOINTING about the ABXY buttons not being able to be remapped on the 360 version. It makes sense if MS is going to insist on their stupid button colors.
When did you place your order?
Remapping the first four works fine on my ps3 edge.
i guess it is just a 360 thing, that sucks
Makes sense from Microsoft.
Laugh.
