Dr. Gonzo, my friend. Two questions for you:

1. As someone who has, in vanilla, fallen in love with beam assist + teleport shenanigans (specifically Dante and Magneto), my current theory-fighter idea for an Ultimate team is Dante xxx Doom, as unless Magneto proves to be totally absurdly broken, without DHC glitch I’d rather just play Doom for the beam. I was wondering, based on your knowledge and experience thus far with the new characters, who you feel would best fit the following criteria:

-Can totally abuse the shit out of a beam assist for cross up gimmicks a la Dante. Thus far imagining Strider, Virgil, or Rocket from new cast, Dorm from old.
-Has an assist that Dante can abuse the shit out of, alternating with Doom’s beam. This is less important than the above, since it would be a secondary assist. But for synergy’s sake, I don’t wanna skimp on the options. I know virtually nothing about the new guys’ assists, but am assuming Strider’s teleport assist could be good to go here?

2. Any less acrid these days? Or still perennially so?

After playing the new Taskmaster, what is your take on him? Is he better? Is he worse? What are his matchups looking like? Do you think he’s had too many things limiting him, hindering his overall performance, or do you think he’s got a lot of new possible technology added to him?

Rocket Raccoon: Unused by many ppl (from what I could see on the main station that is) at Ultimate Norcal 2 event. Is there something that was putting people off to him? His life maybe? His overall size and the j. M that dashes forward making his air combos a little different than the cast maybe? Just curious on your overall impression of him if you got your hands on the little furry bastard at the event.

zero has a better lame/mixup game that is less dependent on meter therefore makign him solid, and the fact that he can lvl 3 without preparation plays into his usefulness. quick blurb

Mr. Gonz’, thanks so much for an excellent, and surprisingly thorough, response! I’m really glad YOU brought up Frank, because since asking the question he pretty much assured himself a slot on my team, and I didn’t want to have devalued your efforts. Though in true HG style you maximized the value by anticipating my Frankiness, and made the exact correct suggestion. Now my issue is I’m interested in 4 characters (Dante Frank Strider Doom) and will have to see if Strider’s teleport assist could actually be used with a point character’s teleport to act like an anywhere-hitting beam, thus tasking Doom’s anchor spot. Will be interesting. All I know is I can’t get the damn game till Friday and am PISSED LOL

Are you still running with Hawkeye/Task/Doom? Put out some videos of this team with some strategies to play safe and smart keepaway! I get a little spammy with Hawkeye and mainly use jumping triple arrows with Task or Doom horizontal assist to try and keep em locked down, but if they get midscreen, I’m not sure what the best way to get them off me and full screen space re-established… suggestions?
