Arriving at 6 a.m. Friday. I will be unpacking and probably bored by the afternoon. In which I will begin my exploring journey. Since I will most likely be without internet for the time being, someone please fast-track me places to go for the weekend. I hope to see everyone. Haha, a bit overzealous perhaps, but oh well. I read through the old posts a bit and there seems to a be a general consensus thatcompetition is good at Game Max (or popular). What’s a nice recommendation for the first place to hit up? I want to be able to not play against newbies for 2-3 hours.

Quality of competition at GameMax can be inconsistent but it’s the cleanest arcade in the area and has the best parts. There’s more competition at the WanChai arcade (2 2-machine setups instead of just 1) and a match is only 3HKD opposed to 4 but the sticks are crappy and the place smells like/is an ashtray. I certainly would not recommend playing there for extended periods of time, especially during the evening. :stuck_out_tongue:

Where do you guys usually play, then? I’m down for arcades as a California native, but if it’s not the thing to do, I’m all ears

the best competition, imo, is at smart game in mong kok. good variety of players, all at least of decent to pro level. But go during the evenings after-work hours, that’s when they show up. Also, its clean, smoke-free, but games are $5 each, as opposed to the average of $4

Yea Smart Game is probably the best overall for competition, setup and environment, it’s just a bit less convenient to go to. Well Carzydog told me that everyone goes to Lai Chi Kok now instead of SG but that’s even further… haven’t really felt like making the trip to get blown up badly yet.

We just go to Gamemax over Wanchai because of the smoke.

Last post for a day or so. Do you guys play with the people at HKFighter? Are they SRK-worthy? Haha. Anyway, I’ll probably hit up one of you guys (whoever’s closest, I guess) – Naach, looking at you, for a plan and session. Looking forward to meeting the competition and to have people more experienced in the HK layout than me.
I don’t even know the top HK players (are there any? I think so) besides GameUppp and the soon-to-be HK resident, HumanBomb

Should probably be asking if the SRK people are HKFighter worthy instead -_-… but really the ‘srk bunch’ consists of like 5 people lol. I used to play with the HKFighter guys every Monday night but I got tired of the smoke and I was kinda just throwing my money away getting dominated so now I don’t really make a point to specifically go find those guys. As far as I know, it’s probably just Gameouttt and Humanbomb that have some recognition/fame outside of Asia (possibly Scrubydan and Carzydog?). There’s plenty of other very strong local players if you go looking.
