I don’t think you should drop Street Fighter but you should definitely take a look at that character roster again. It sounds to me like your frustrations are character-based. Maybe picking a new main will help with that. I think you’ll fare much better playing a character that’s less reliant on zoning and has more options overall. Given your Guile experience, you could begin maining Deejay and get into the flow of him pretty quickly. However, I’d recommend starting fresh with a completely different character just so you can develop new skills and approach the game with a different mindset. I think it’ll help you improve as a player overall.
I’m from Hong Kong and Vancouver. I grew up here til I was 12 then moved to van, just came back around 2 years ago to do my Masters. Oh my name is Cord by the way (nice to meet you), sorry I didn’t really greet you properly earlier.
Yea that Yun guy was definitely good… don’t really recognize him actually… I’d say maybe not quite as good as a couple other Yun’s I know from around here. I found his dive kicks ridiculously ambiguous though, I guessed wrong like 50000+ times.
I’m not gonna drop it but I need a break mentally from Guile. I’m so locked into my wrong playstyle with him that it’s hard to fix it let alone recognize what exactly I’m doing wrong in the match. I’ve been playing a little bit of Ken and Deejay… you could say I’m a little more mobile with them since it’s kinda built into their attacks but I still play robotically. Ugh… I play other characters like even more of a day 1 scrub but I guess I have no choice but to plow through the noobness with experience…
Yeah, you’re going to have to tough it out. Once you break through that initial barrier, things should go more smoothly.
I’ll be at GameMax this afternoon. Going to work on my Cody, maybe learn Guy as well. Debating between which to pick.
FUCK CODY
After that stomping we got from those two players, I think it’s worth putting some more effort to Cody and learning those CH and frame trap setups. That fool hits hard.
Going to Game Max with Naach tonight at 930 ish if anyone’s down
See you two there.
Anyone know of any arcades in the Tuen Mun area? There’s an arcade here called “Fun zone”… anyone here know where it is exactly?
so total shot in the dark, anybody know of any arcades that have 3s machines?
Prince Edward Alliance Plaza has 3s. I think the Namco arcade in WTC causeway bay still has 3s too… I’ve seen it there before anyway.
Regarding Tuen Muen, I have NO idea lol
any idea where this alliance plaza is? google maps is being uncooperative
Sorry, meant to say Allied Plaza
right outside exit B2, it’s on the ground floor but you gotta poke around inside to find the arcade door. You’ll never see it until you’re like right infront of it.
So who’s going down to GM tonight?
Me
me as well. with weeks.
Might come down after class tonight.
Btw this is the video I talked about the other day, really good stuff. Recommend watching all the way through both parts.

BTW, I saw another arcade like 2 blocks east from the one at Wan Chai, does that one have AE? There’s hella arcades all over HK. Lots of great players here.

Next week is a “revision” period so while the rest of the students in HKU are going overseas to party I’ll probably be at the arcade every night going broke.
