Hokuto no Ken Discussion Thread

Here’s some new scans for the HNK Musou game B …

…

I hope the FoTNS movie is done well from the re-release…I’ll see this weekend.

Where’s Bat? He gets no love

He should have been the successor of Hokuto Shinken:xeye:

Bat/Bart isn’t here, as well as other famous chars like Toki or Souther. They’ll prolly be here in due time, though, I wouldn’t worry bout that.

As for him being the successor to the style?

Well, I think in the end, it was the bloodline ties. Ryu, the son of Raoh, being the successor, meant that some one of the Hokuto lineage would pick up the style, and would be the best fit for the job.

Compared to that, Bart was just a regular man, who picked up a lil of dat Shinken from hanging around Ken. He might have ended up better than say, Jagi, but would likely never be able to use the style to the fullest, because he’s just a “normal dude”.

^ Poor bat witnessed all this bastards battles yet Ken has the nerve to not offer the poor kid lessons . The world is still full of terrible as bastards and Ken can’t do this forever I mean damn.

Hahaha yeah I know.

You gotta keep it “somewhat” in the family. Ken didn’t have to show him the Mosou Tensei, but at least show the guy enough so that he can protect his little girlfriend Lynn.

I never watched all of HnK 2 to witness Bart mad skillz, because it didn’t interest me too much for some reason. I watched bits and pieces, but it kind of felt like the series had run its course.

Bart/Bat had a really great ending dude!

He got the love he deserved. He got Lynn… If you watched all of Hnk2, you will see that happen… Lynn was hot in Hnk2…

I really think Ken got the worst of everything. He is still a homeless dude fixated on YYYYYYUUUUUUUUURRRRIAAAAAAAA!!!

I don’t know why people hate on Hnk2… Its a great series and a must watch for anyone that wants to understand Hokuto better.

Someone asked what happened to Mamiya, she is still alive. However, Ken asked her to remember Rei and forget about him.

Someone mentioned Toki: He is an awesome dude. I like him a lot. I also think he should have been better than Kenshiro, unfortunately… that accident…

I think Ken didn’t teach Bat Hokuto Shinken, because he didn’t want Bat to have to suffer under the destiny of Hokuto practicioners(The same thing Koryuu did for both his sons), whereas Ryu had it in his blood, and no other relation other than Kenshiro, so he had much less to lose than Bat did.

Yeah, that might be the reason, but it still sucks. The new guys just don’t do it for me though.

Really? I was always under the impression it was like GT…i guess i should check it out.

EDIT:

Yeah same here. I dont hate them by any means, like Raohs voice isnt bad or anything. Its just the originals were so much better. Kens ATATATATA is so pathetic too with the new ones…

How about doing a DBZ Kai treatment for it? Mind I don’t know exactly WHY I don’t think it’s a problem much, but maybe it’s because it could be shown on a time period suited for older viewers (teens+).

Alas very few children would be able to appreciate Ken’s badassness =/
I’ve let my 4-5 year old nephews watch Rambo and some of the HnK OVAs, but they weren’t all that impressed…yet.

Actually awhile back they showed the New Fist of the North Star on Starz…I can probably see other networks showing this like on Syfy maybe even cartoon network/Adult Swim…

Tell them if they miss behave then Ken-o and Koku-Oh will come looking for them.

Don’t let your kids (or brother’s/sister’s kids) watch violent things

Never compare Hnk2 to GT… Never… Oh good god… Never…

Hnk starts out slowly, which initially made me want to not watch it. But, by time they get to Raoh’s brother things start to kick a lot of ass. You really learn that Raoh was even more of a badass and his true reason for wanting to completely rule everything.

Also, there is a lot of things explained about the art of Hokuto itself.

OH, and the land of Ashura is just completely badass.

A lot of great stories happen in Hnk2. Especially, watching Kenshiro get his ass completely handed to him. It’s just priceless. I actually thought the series was going to end with him dying.

Hnk2 is a MUST watch… You will NOT regret it.

GOOD NEWS EVERYONE!!!

DISCOTEK IS RELEASING ALL 152 episodes of HNK in the states!!! No funimation and No EDITS!!! COMPLETELY UNCENSORED!!! IT WILL COME OUT IN 2010 4 BOX SETS!!!

it’s already out on hulu and heart of madness has had it out and subbed/unedited for a while now.

but it’s cool that it’s coming out on… 4 discs? or 4 different box sets? if it’s 4 discs that would be tight, but if they do bullshit dbz shit and only put out like 3 episodes per disc that’s fucking garbage.

It happened in his mind? I didn’t realize that. I thought he just moved so fast Rei didn’t see it. Must watch again.

I don’t think it all happened in his mind….

I think Raoh said it was his battle aura that is so strong.

Damn Rei jobbed hard on this fight…

Another treat:

Hnk combo vid (this must be the most broken game ever… none the less, great vid. Reminds me of Killer Instinct)

Battle auro that manifested itself within Rei’s mind, atlteast thats what I thought?? made more sense to me that way

^yeah, as geese pointed out, that didn’t happen in Rei’s mind. Rei thought Raoh had physically attacked him, when it was really Raoh’s battle aura that hit Rei.

EDIT: Raoh’s battle aura allows him to attack someone without physically moving. It’s not that obscure when you consider other instances of battle auras having tangible effects (Kenshiro’s disturbing Kokuoh-go, the tornado created by Raoh and Kenshiro’s auras, Toki/Raoh’s auras freezing the air around them, Fudo’s crackling on Raoh’s helmet, etc.)
