Hit Box - We so S Tier1!

Jep, I`ve templates, just pm me.

bencao had a demo or something on his youtube and site Arcade Stick Modding: Acryl
edit-well their he is.

seriously tempted to build one of these. not going to be for a while, but these look amazing. would love to see the look on someones face when they ask to borrow a stick and you hand them this. nice work all. hoping a standardised template comes out in the following months. I personally would stick with the 30mm Sanwa buttons for the attack inputs, simply due to the fact I have bigger hands and feel comfortable using them.

I want one! O_O
I’ve thought about something like this since last year, when I tried using the keyboard and then switched to the stick.
The problem of the keyboard (too little buttons, which often are mis-pressed) is solved by the big stick buttons.
Very very nice.

i sense a bit of a flaw in the hitbox designe maybe someone can profe me wrong… ?

the 24mm buttons indeed allow closer buttonlayouts andless movement but whats with doubletapping? is it still pssible and play flawlessly on the hitbox`? since you need two fingers … specialy for 1frame combos involfing a jab as the oneframer its not possible to blink and it should be much harder to doubletap am i wrong?

You are indeed wrong. The buttons aren’t THAT small, they allow double tapping just fine.

Kurasa on the front page calling the Hit Box the future. Get hype.

are these available for sale yet?

Yes they are. You can place an order at the e-mail address Hitboxes@gmail.com. There is an unexpectedly long list of orders, and the Huffer brothers are currently low on boards, so if it takes a while to fill your order please be patient.

The hitbox is the truth! I was playing around on it at the Final Round Qualifier in Kansas City this past weekend and the masses loved it.

It is perfect for SSF4 where inputs can be shortcutted ad nauseam. We learned some very useful techniques and I think that I got a few converts.

didn’t he say how fast it was and then say it would be bad for marvel because it’s twitchy? lolwut

Yeah, nothing against the guy, but that doesn’t make sense to me. Not to mention the Hit Box was made to play MvC2, so MvC3 should work out just fine. I can’t wait to play MvC3 on my Hit Box, tri jumps are going to be so fun.

Can you request different colors or anything for the hitbox(both for buttons and for the case)?

Do you make them at all with a gap between the directional buttons and the attack buttons? Can this be requested?

If not it’s all good I just want to know what my options are.

OH MY GOOD he framed the hitbox he MUST BE WRONG its designed for it ^^

lets see i remember a arcade stick sepcial designed for arcade games^^ --> Google-Ergebnis für http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3034/2551360706_f541a77519.jpg

its his personal opinion maybe he needs some time to get used to it n a faster game… dont be a totaly fanboy be objektiv; as faar as i understand it he loves how easy the SF4 shortcuts are with it and that helps a lot G

but i can understand that 24mm buttons for big fingers and a fast game totaly make the brain wuzzy :stuck_out_tongue: and after seeing this guy he MUST HAFE big fingersg

^^this

Part of the benefit of the hitbox is that is simplifies more complex motions, motions that just aren’t found in vs games. It makes IADs and trijumps easy too, but I’m already proficient at that on stick and not every character has those in mvc3.

The slower games are also a lot more forgiving on input errors like tapping up while still holding down and you just can’t make those mistakes in vs games. Simply put, the benefits of the hitbox are more easily reaped in games like SSF4 and 3S and I don’t see the need to invest the time into relearning the faster games when I already have the required muscle memory.

It’s just like you’re typing. It takes more experience because your hands have to trust the interface. It gets really comfy, and the buttons aren’t too close for anyone who knows how to type. It’s just non-traditional.

MvC3’s inputs seem even more forgiving than SSFIV. Whenever I get to play MvC3, it’s on stick and I always have the problem with random moves coming out that don’t even resemble my joystick motions. I’m pretty sure that 23 comes out as a fireball. It’s more lenient than ever… If it’s like I’m thinking, players will have to be just as precise as playing older games just to make sure the wonk inputs don’t get them killed.

But, yeah, it’s all preference. As Kurasa said, it is much easier to reap the benefits from SSF4 and 3S. The learning curve to translate joystick to Hit Box in MvC2 is more steep than playing SSFIV. In Marvel you never slow down and your buttons pressed per minute is off the chart, so there’s a lot more experience needed to surpass 10 years of muscle memory.

That doesn’t mean it’s not good for Marvel 2, it’s just a little late to relearn to ROM for competitive play. Now that I’ve transposed my tri-jumps, Dhalsim is insanely fast and his movement almost looks tool assisted. Once you get the rhythm to never press Up + Down, it’s consistent and you can nail tri-jums in the fastest frames allowed every time, and it’s a blast. But, again, MvC2 is 10 years old, so it’s really just for building memory for MvC3. I’m really excited for February to finally play it on Hit Box.

@Kurasa: Great interview man. That’s sooo hype. I’m beaming that you were repping Hit Box in Kansas too!! Be sure to keep us posted with your impressions.

The boxes we’re making are just like the ones in the Basics video with 8 buttons and a shared jump. We definitely look at custom requests, but we really stand behind the design we’ve adopted for Hit Box.
The pushbutton colors for Sanwa OBSN-24 are Red, Blue, Yellow, Green, Orange.

If you would like more information, be sure to e-mail me at hitboxes@gmail.com, and I can give you all of our details. I really wanted to get our site up weeks ago with all of this info, but it looks like my site builder is taking a holiday, so it won’t be until after Christmas. :frowning:
I really want to avoid spamming this thread with order information since it’s for discussing Hit Box.

@Husser_Brian
NP my dude. I recognize the potential for mahvel, but that’s going to take some practice. I really want to see your mvc2 Sim!

On a sidenote, can you make me one with 30mm Snap-ins on the right side? I love the 24s for movement, but my fingers cramp up when I try to throw and such.

Use Right Thumb + Index finger for throws and focus attacks. There should be no strain that way and you won’t need to reposition your hand. If you need to instant air throw with Chun, etc., that would be one of the instances to use left-thumb jump for max speed.

Be afraid of the Sim!
