Is there any chance we could settle on just mailing out a heavily bubble wrapped plate of plexi that has the button/screw holes in it? That would be radically cheaper shipping than this big box two ways. I wouldnt mind chipping in a couple bucks for it.

I wouldn’t know, I don’t work for Hit Box.

Also I wanted to know, what’s the design choice for the elongated case? From where the buttons are actually placed until the side, there seems to be lot of room.

I don’t think that’s going to happen.

There’s a couple reasons for it, actually. We wanted a case that would sit comfortably on your lap no matter how you sat. We got some inspiration from a certain stick in that regard, so we made it wider. The other reason was that Shawn and Dustin are huge movie buffs and their biggest dream was to take screen shots directly from a movie and have it as their artwork. The size of case we use now is actually the aspect ratio used to film movies.

Has anyone tried setting S to the 4th button in the top row and using your pinky in marvel? I’ve been sliding my index finger down but this would be less travel time.

Can anyone msg me the actual layout real hitbox uses, just for personal use. Thnx.

I like this idea im gonna have to have a play with this

Also wanted to point out there were no cracks what so ever in my case when i got it, even sent it off to be dual modded by a friend on the fourm and it came back in mint condition, not sure what size screws were used but mine was sent from the USA to the UK and managed to survive the shipping over sea’s.

I’m not sure what to make of this, but this is the box that my Hit Box came in

The box was never even closed. There is still the paper backing covering up the adhesive flap on the box. Everything was just exposed. I’m not even sure how it was managed to be sent like this or how no postal worker along the way didnt just close the box. Huge oversight, to put it nicely. It couldve easily just have fallen out of the box during transport, which mightve contributed to the cracking.

I see broken tape. Looks like it was closed at one point. Probably postal service problem.

Hard to believe it’s been a year since I first saw this interview from Socal Regionals and got really intrigued by what you guys were doing. It’s amazing to see how far you guys have come and how much you’ve refined your product in that short amount of time. Surviving the flood of hate from traditional joystick users and naysayers, dealing with people trying to claim your product is cheating, the giant influx of curious customers and copycats alike. Hopefully you guys will continue to stay busy with business cranking these out for people and constantly changing up game unlike the big companies that don’t bother with innovation. Keep up the good work guys, can’t wait to finally get mine for my birthday a year later

thumbs up
I think the same. And I hope ppl will stop bitching about it, that its cheating etc etc. So damn lame imo, but some ppl dont like change.

And I can’t wait to get mine!. I will get KOFXIII this Friday or next Monday, so I have to play with pad till I get it T_T

Is it possible the plexi cracks when it endures extreme temperature change?

Maybe. We do live in a desert, so it’s probably going to be a lot colder anywhere else in the world.

I’m think more about the temperature change that happens during shipment. I deal with musical instruments and one of the biggest problems is wood cracking during shipment due to cold. You might want to look into wrapping the hitbox in plastic to help insulate.

Yeah, I’m well aware of temperature being my enemy. Can’t even tell you how hard it is to find a nice guitar down here that doesn’t have a warped neck. All the music stores import their instruments and a ton of them get ruined.

I’ll pass the help on to Shawn and we’ll look into it.

So, I’m sort of getting paranoid now. I’m getting my Hit Box probably next week or so, but I’ve talked to some people, and I mainly play MK, but I do want to expand my FGs in the future to KoF13, UMvC3, and Skull Girls. People are saying it’s going to be extremely difficult doing the Dragon thing in KoF and other difficult motions from Skull Girls/KoF/UMvC3.

I really hope, I do not have to end up selling this thing because motions might/will be easier on stick. I really don’t want to use both my hands in awkward positions to do get moves off, like crisscrossing my hands and stuff. I really hope, I can play the more advanced fighters man. I’m worried!

Don’t be. I pretty much exclusively play SF and KoF and I can tell you that with enough practice you’ll be getting the harder motions no problem. Sure, inputs in MK are easier, but on Hit Box they become RIDICULOUSLY easy. So easy in fact that a stick player can pick it up in 15 minutes and pull off things that they had problems with on stick.

All it takes is practice, if you dedicate yourself to learning it, you’ll be getting your inputs quick and easy. No need to do cross hand stuff or anything like that.

Ah cool, I hope so, I’ll rewatch some videos when I get it. I refrenced the crosshand stuff because I believe you guys showed some funky stuff in the pianoing tutorial.

If you can, legend for motions? Like QCB, HCF, etc, haha I don’t even know how to do those on Stick.

Hah, well the pianoing thing was a technique I discovered that we found out can really make things faster, accurate, and easier. It seems funky, but it’s starting to get into the more advanced Hit Box techniques. When you’re first learning I’d recommend that you never move your hands out of position because it’ll do more harm than good, but after you’ve gotten that down to a mastery level then you can start to freestyle and really get the benefits of using buttons in our layout.

As for the input for the moves, a quarter circle back would just be down, down back, then back. Half circle forward would be back, down back, down, down forward, then forward. To get them to come out you would roll your fingers across the buttons to get the diagonals to come out. You can watch our tutorial videos to see how that’s done. The quarter circle and tiger knee videos especially can show you a good rolling technique.

I thought you guys ordered your plexiglasses with your default artwork screen printed on them. Wouldn’t that make it difficult for them to be able to just throw a screen shot from a movie on there? Do you guys offer any customizations? I can go about adding my own artwork one way or another but can you guys give me the specific button color combination that I wanted for it so I didn’t have to order extra buttons elsewhere. The buttons would be just black and white but I had a specific pattern that I wanted them in.
