Hit Box - We so S Tier1!

For the moment, yes.

Fair enough… I still can’t wait to get my HitBox!

Thanks!

For anyone interested in a review from a mediocre street fighter/tekken/mvc3 player, here’s mine, separated by game title.

Tekken 6:
-Fluid control; I was VERY used to playing tekken on a controller, been playing since tekken 2 so it’s very natural to me. It came as a surprise to how easy execution is. Even my girlfriend said my execution became better when I played on the hitbox.

-Easier to hit the cross buttons: in all the tekken games I had great trouble hitting LK+RP(triangle + X (Playstation) or Y + A (Xbox 360) or LP+RK(O + square(Playstation) or X + B(Xbox 360) ). After having just a single session messing around with the hitbox, playing lei as a main, I can tell you it’s so much easier using the hitbox and getting those buttons pressed (two fingers instead of the claw method) than it was before. Makes lei’s stance switching so much easier. Other characters cross moves as well.

Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition
-Easier motion control: On a gamepad it’s very difficult to do some of the motions correctly via joystick, such as the QCB or QCF moves, even the basic moves can be a little tough depending on the situation. The hitbox lets you easily glide across the down/forward or down/back buttons to easily let you execute whatever move you want.

-Easy to execute supers and ultras: in my experience, I could never reliably pull off supers/ultras (I main ibuki, so her super is somewhat annoying to get normally) having the buttons, and ability to execute the motions quickly makes the game a bit easier to control. And I can tell you from experience that I can actually pull off Ibuki’s ultra when I want to now. XD

-Easy EX moves: I know I probably don’t need to emphasize the point, but the hitbox also makes using EX moves easier. Instead of trying to configure your finger(if you use a gamepad like I used to) to hit the right 2 buttons at once you get to use two fingers to hit the necessary buttons, easier to coordinate in my opinion.

-Charge characters: Coming Soon. I never played charge characters to begin with. But I plan on taking some for a spin to see how the hitbox facilitates their use. Any suggestions on which character would be the best to try this out would be wonderful please and thank you.

Marvel VS Capcom 3

  • Coming Soon: I haven’t gotten a chance to sit down with MvC3 yet. Ive been focusing on Tekken 6 primarily.

Conclusion: I would recommend this product to anyone, newbie to fighting game scene or a pro gamer, it may be just what you need to find your edge, or a refreshing change of pace from what you’re used to. Definitely worth the price, and you may find you’re better than you think you are when you get your hands on the hitbox. (pun intended)

I hope this answers any question some of you may have about how some games work with it.

(PS: I plan to release an additional review post for MvC3 and SF Charge characters, as well as an additional one for when KoF13 comes to America. Let me know what you think guys.)

-Good Gaming, Poncho signing off.

You’re making the wait harder and harder you know! But all good things to those who wait!

Hey, when can we expect lesson three, btw? Or there a fixed interval on the eps?

That was not my intention. Just merely to be informative to those looking forward to it. It really is worth the wait though. Your patience will be well-rewarded.

Not an issue at evo

JohnGrimm, would it be possible to get a PS3 box now, wait until you get the ps360 pcb’s in, send back the ps3 box, pay the additional difference to get a dual-modded box?

Just worth asking; really want to get this product now but I know I’ll need the dual mod too.

Well we can appreciate the enthusiasm regarding our product, however, we cant sell it to you like that. Plus, there is a waiting list available where we go in numerical order.

You can place yourself on the waiting list at www.hitboxarcade.com

Np – did think as much. I know its not normal business practice, but given the circumstances… well, you know the rest. Haha.

And I am already on that list; I just know how hard the PS360 PCB’s are to get right now.

Glad you posted that video. So you can confirm you can not double block on the PS3. Weather the fix is in the console (bad for DDR and Pop’n Music players LOL) or in the game should not matter now because the point is now moot. So my angry rants in other threads just prove I am a Jack ass (which I am fine with LOL). Which reminds me, I still need to add Hit Boxes to the What controller to buy guide. If nothing else a entry with the same stats and comment left for all the sticks on there. I already know you use Sanwa push buttons and a toodles Cthulhu for the PCB. So thats a good place to get started.

Lukas, you did not know that the Hit Box use specific Firmware that Toodles made for the Hit Box?
The Hit Box Cthulhu makes so Left + Right = Neutral.

I was wondering why you went crazy.
Laugh.

How is the wait list constructed, are there two separate wait lists for dualmod and ps3 boxes or is there just one over all wait list? Curious as I just switched my order from ps360 to ps3 and i am not sure if i just shot myself to the bottom of that waiting list.

I was already went crazy years ago when I joined the military. Just the crazy leaks out now and then.

Oh as hit box is now actual brand name commercial stick and not just a custom.
Hit Box is now on the “What controllers to buy” thread, posted under the game pad section.
I felt at this time it was not fair to compare the hit box to retail sticks as they are 2 completely different beast. Its like comparing a DDR pad to a Guitar Hero Controller.

Do you have the psd template of the hitbox up somewhere for download? I just want to get started on my artwork, also what is the button quality and color?

Very interested in trying this product. I just have two questions.

  1. My left thumb suffers from tendinitis due to too much pad play (fast Tekken wavedashing can wreck tendons unfortunately). I was able to move to arcade stick to keep playing pain free. However, I am wondering if the HitBox could make that issue come back?

  2. I like to play four button games and I like to keep the four fingers (excluding pinky) on my right hand over those buttons at all times. Is there any issue of the jump button getting in the way of that preference?

I’m no expert, but the Hitbox is pretty flexible. You’re going to have to have one thumb or the other on the jump button - unless you come up with some other whacky way to press the buttons (which, in a sense, would defeat the purpose of the design - but hey, if it works for you, rock on). I would probably recommend using your four non-thumb fingers on your right hand for the attack buttons in games like Tekken and MvC3. But if you’re dead set on using your familiar thumb-index-middle-ring approach like most tekken players, then you’re going to be using your left thumb for jump. I can’t imagine the hitbox causing tendonitis or CTS anywhere near to the extent a pad does - we’re talking about pressing a Sanwa button, it requires barely any force at all.

Well no more or less than a keyboard. Proper posture and maybe a good wrist pad will help.

I wonder how this works for King of Fighters and the jump heights. I imagine you just tap it to make it work

So I think someone asked this before but…

I was emailed about the PS3 boxes as an exclusive for being one of the ‘Founders’, but I opted to wait for the PS360 boxes (and said that I wanted to in the email). Do I need to sign up again at hitboxarcade.com? or is that not necessary.
