Sounds like rocket raccoon is going to be pretty execution heavy. Going to be pretty difficult for me, I just hope some more combo paths show up, doesn’t seem to do a great deal of damage without copious use of meter. The screen control I’m loving though.
Day 1 mixups?
His combos are definitely not as beginner friendly as a lot of other characters, a lot of that is his normals being very unorthodox and very short range but also doing things like bear trap OTG is fairly strict as well. Not super hard once you practice it a bit but certainly not lenient by any stretch. I was having a little trouble with doing anything complex just because my execution is not fantastic and it’s very easy to press the wrong button and have your combo prematurely end. He will be a precision combo character for sure.
high execution?
right up my street
How strict is the timing for the Bear Trap OTG? I saw it Ground bounce in the reveal videos but on Maxamillians assist me video The opponent Rolled as soon as they got hit.
Ive never been good with timing. hopefully this wont be a problem for me
Rocky had come.
Equipped with a gun.
To shoot off the legs, of his rival.
I haven’t really done it a lot of times so I can’t say if there’s a trick to it I’m missing but I found I had to buffer the motion in the recovery of whatever lead up to it, the throw or falling from the S knockdown. That seemed to give the best results, otherwise you did often get the opponent rolling out. I think the difficulty is just that it has to be done right away, and that distance also makes it a little harder, if you fall right next to them it’ll hit earlier than if you fall far away and they only get hit by the edge of the trap.
I thought it only delivered a ground bounce after executing it after an air S during an air combo. That seems to be the case from watching videos. When RR used it just to show it off in Assist Me! it just hit them. After an air combo the ground bounce took followed by the wall bounce Pendulum.
I played with rockey a bit
he has a really good air throw, but I had to use it because his air combos kept screwing up. His teleport is pretty good but cover yourself, if you do it raw they can punish easily. His forward+H is pretty good, float instant overheads are cool.
I don’t think he’ll be that good though, or maybe he needs specfic assists to help his gameplan. He can be outlamed pretty easily and if you throw something out he is going to get punished harder by the new punish supers (strange and hawkeye) so IDK anymore. We’ll see what yall do with him.
this makes me REALLY nervous.
That could be the case, I admit I played around with RR a little at the start but I haven’t tested anything extensively since then. I’ll check this for sure when I next get a chance to sit down with the game.
why ?
what’s wrong with pratice ?
Personally when i get into a match. I tend to break under pressure. and Combos that take certain execution or timing get more difficult for me to do.
I mean with practice I would definitly get used to it.
I guess you played either wesker or Logan in mvc3?
lol I played iron man where every combo feels Luke every hit is a one frame link
if It’s hard to do there more boss like you feel when you hit somebody with it
I don’t think Rocket is going to take THAT much practice per se anyways, like it’ll take some work to get basic combos down, but there won’t be that much in the way of advanced combos.
He strikes me overall as a planning character rather than an execution character (well once past that initial barrier from his combos being so weird)
I have played them but i dont play them. I play Viewtiful joe, Doom, Deadpool, Zero, & Dante.
But idk its just difficult for me to do combos that require specific Timing.
I agree. But being a viewtiful Joe player, I must see what rockets capable of while the opponent is slowed. and that’ll keep me busy in Training mode on day 1. lol
RR got you nervous? Lmao.
Welcome to the world of “looks like I’m going to have to really learn this character!”
I was Kinda hoping He was gonna be the Wolverine of ultimate =P
IIRC Doom was “lacking” when Vanilla came out.
At the same time, characters who ARE lacking in the right hands seem so have no weaknesses. At least wait til everybody gets their hands on the game, there should be a lot of juicy shit to share come monday.
So I played so RR tonight. The awkwardness you hear everyone talk about is very, very real. He is hard to control, hard to get a hit with, and difficult to combo with.
Also it seems he has limited options against some of the more…stupid shit in this game. That Hawkeye arrow super just straight fucks him up.
Reminds me of Modok. A character with a lot of potential, but he will need a team built around him, and you are going to have to put in the work to get the reward.
